Lin Shi didn't expect Yu Xiang to be so straightforward. Three big boxes were already in the courtyard before their private talk was done. Labels were affixed to the lid of those boxes, two of which were the household account books and the other box was ledgers of Lin Shi's dowry for all these years.

When Yu Miao Qi saw the label, her eyes dimmed as she asked, "Mother is your dowry also managed by her?" Wasn't the truth known four years ago, so how could you still be so at ease about Yu Xiang?

Hearing that, Lin Shi felt utterly embarrassed and ordered someone to move those boxes into the room before explaining, "I was immersed in the pain of my husband's death during the first few years and difficult to extricate myself from the wretchedness. Lin Shi pulled out one and looked through it as she sneeringly said, "I'll leave the household account books aside to look through later, but I have to carefully examine these dowry's ledgers. If she has tampered with them, I'll stir up trouble to the ancestor so that she can see the true colors of this granddaughter."

Having her thoughts drifted, Yu Miao Qi also took out a ledger to briefly browse over it and was shocked by the wealth of Lin Shi's maiden family. There were a great deal of country estates and shops included in the dowry. The verse 'ten miles red dowry[1]' was not excessive.
