Boxing Day, 2004
I leave Harry's room after speaking with Tom and go down stairs to find Tom and Danny again.
"Harry, can I use your phone?" I ask.
"Yeah. It's on the table." He says. I run over to the table, and then step onto the porch. I look through Harry's contacts and dial Fletch.
"Hello?" I hear Fletch say after a couple of rings. "Harry?"
"No, Fletch, this is Lilly." I say.
"Lilly? Why do you have Harry's phone?" He asks.
"Because he's letting me use it."
"Why are you at the band house."
"Because I spent Christmas with the boys." I don't have time to lie.
"I don't know if I like that." He says.
"Yeah well, I don't know if I like my boss not telling me things. Important things." I say. I probably should be afraid of Fletch right now, but I'm too angry.
"What?" He asks.
"Fletch, you wanna tell me about Uganda?" I ask.
"Which one of those blokes told you?" He asks, anger clear in his voice.
"Tom." I say.
"Tell Tom when I get back he's dead." Fletch says.
"No."
"What?"
"No." I repeat. "You're in the wrong here Fletch. Explain yourself."
"I just don't want you to go." He says.
"Well then tell me. Don't just leave me out to dry so when I try to get in touch with one of you you are in Africa." I say.
"I'm sorry Lilly." He says. I sigh.
"It's fine Fletch." It's not fine, but he's still my boss. "The boys have a gig on New Years Eve at the London Palladium."
"Wait, really?" He asks.
"Yeah. I booked it on Christmas Eve."
"Lilly, I'm not coming back to London until the third." He says.
"Fletch, I've handled the boys without you before. I got this." I say.
"Thanks Lilly."
"No problem." I say, before hanging up. When I turn around, I am startled by Dougie standing right behind me.
"How long have you been there?" I ask him.
"Long enough." He shrugs. "Fletch told us not to tell you about Uganda. How did you find out?"
"Tom." I say.
"Figures." He rolls his eyes.
"Dougie, I don't think Fletch takes me seriously." I say.
"Lilly, that's ridiculous! Of course he does!" He says.
"Well, he definitely doesn't like me being here. I've got to leave."
"Lilly, he's in Bournemouth, he doesn't know when you're leaving." He says.
"That doesn't mean I shouldn't leave." I say.
"Yes it does." He smiles.
"I've gotta go pack." I say, walking past him.
"Wait." He says. I turn back to him. "You were going to leave tomorrow morning."
"Dougie, I told you-"
"Well then before you go, can I show you something?" He asks.
"What?" I ask.
"That's a surprise, Lilly." He smiles.
"Okay." I say, and he leads me inside.
