The Rebirth of Camp Half-Blood (Part 1)

The golden dust settled down on him. The sword in his hand didn't even feel strange after all this time. He stared shocked at where the monster had been.

Why was it here? It had been years since he had seen one. His eyes widened as he began to realize what this meant. He sprinted down the street and into his apartment building. He ignored the doorman's questions about his appearance as he hit the elevator button impatiently. The doorman suggested calling an ambulance and he took that as invitation to try the stairs. He sprinted up the fifth floor and fumbled about for his keys before throwing the door open and quickly shutting it.

"Dad!" A girl's voice shouted. "What happened to you!"

"I'm calling an ambulance!" Shouted a boy's voice.

"No!" He cried snatching the cell phone away and slamming it on the floor.

"Dad!"

"What is going on?" A woman's voice asked.

He turned to face his wife. At the sight of him she dropped the glass of water she was holding and it shattered on the floor. Her eyes wide. He opened his mouth but she quickly hushed him and shoved him on to the couch.

She then ran into the kitchen and returned with a sandwich bag of ambrosia and a pitcher of water. He took a square of ambrosia and took a bite as she splashed the water on him. Behind her her children gasped as his injuries began to slowly heal themselves.

"Mom?"

She stood to face her children. "Pack a bag. Keep it light. Absolutely no technology of any kind."

"But mom..."

"Pack a bag!"

The two knew better than to argue and hurried to do as they were told.

"I'll fetch the 'necessities'. Can you grab the clothes?" Her husband asked standing.

She nodded. "Course. I just can't believe that after all this time... I-I thought they could be normal..."

He pulled her into a hug and kisses the top of her head. "We've tried. There's nothing more we can do about that right now. What we can do, is call everyone else. We'll be okay. I'll meet you at the car." He then quickly headed downstairs to their storage unit. Inside sat the usual things, the kids old bikes, old furniture, boxes of this and that. He ignored it all in favor of a box. Unlike all the other boxes it's label was in Greek. Opening it he moved the photos that were on top to reach what he came down for. A bag of drachmas and denarii and spare weapons- which he had saved for his children for all of these years.

He stuffed them into a bag and hurried out front. The kids were already in the back and his wife sat in the driver's seat. He slid in the passenger seat as she hit the gas.

"What were they?" She asked him.

"Kelli," growled. "Had some friends with her too."

"And you didn't save her for me?"

He cracked a smile. "Next one is all yours. Unfortunately she didn't babble on enough for me to figure out what was going on."

"What is going on?" A voice from the back asked.

"Percy!"

Percy jumped but a smile was on his face as Nico's face appeared in an Iris Message. "Nico!"

"How is that possible!" One of the kids shouted.

"Hi. Wish this call was more social but... Got a little problem here."

"Dad! What the hell is that!" A scared voice cried.

Nico cursed. "Will! Talk to the Sea-Idiot! I'll kill it!"

"Sea-Idiot?" Percy asked offended as Will's face replaced Nico's.

"So you guys are having a similar issue?" Annabeth asked.

"Unfortunately," Will responded. "But we now know that Vivi is clear sighted?"

"We're heading for camp," Percy informed him. "After all this time the barrier should still work and Rachel never left."

Will nodded. "I'll call the Roman side. And meet you there."

"You guys stay safe."

"You too," Will said before cutting the connection.

"Okay. Mom, Dad can we have an explanation now?"

"Luke... Zoë..." Percy sighed. "We'll... give you both one when we get there."

"But where are we going?"

"A summer camp... Well it once was..."

The rest of the ride was silent only interrupted by the sound of Percy calling his old friends. Travis, Connor and Katie, Clarisse and Chris, Leo and Calypso, and Thalia.

When the arrived Annabeth stopped the car and she and Percy led the way up the hill. Upon reaching the top they saw Thalia's tree still standing despite its dragon being long gone.

Through the barrier things were eerily silent.

"This place is in ruins," Luke observed.

"Yeah," Annabeth said softly as they walked through wreckage.

Percy grabbed her hand reassuringly. "Let's find Rachel."

"No need." The two turned to see Rachel standing on the porch of the former Big House.

"You knew we were coming?"

"I'm an oracle Percy. Now, come inside."

The family followed her into what had once been the Rec room. The ping pong table still sat where it had always been. Percy and Annabeth both took their former seats while their children picked ones at random.

"Rachel these are the twins. Luke and Zoë. Kids? This is our friend Rachel," Annabeth introduced.

"What's going on?" Luke asked adjusting his glasses.

Annabeth and Percy locked eyes. She spoke first. "This is something we didn't exactly want to tell you. But do you remember all those stories we used to read to you about the Greek Gods?"

"What does that have to do with anything?" Zoë questioned.

"In those stories there are children called demigods. They are half human- or mortal- and half god or goddess. We'll what if these demigods still existed today? They would train to fight the monsters which hunted them and-"

Zoë frowned pulling her black hair back into a ponytail. "What's the point? Are you guys claiming were are some myth or something?"

"Second generation but yes," Percy nodded. "Your mother is the daughter of the Goddess of Wisdom, Athena. I am a son of Poseidon, God of the Sea."

The twins looked at one another but neither spoke. Rachel set down a glass of water in front of Percy. "Seeing is believing."

Percy shrugged and felt the familiar tug in his gut as the water flowed out of the cup and into the air swirling around his hand.

"So you both are demigods?" Luke asked. His parents nodded. "We are demigods too?" Another nod. "So where are we? And what happened to this place?"

"Camp Half-Blood," Percy answered. "It was one of the two safe havens for demigods. We came here to train to fight monsters. And after a war... A bad war... Many people died and this place became what it looks like now..."

"A war?" Zoë asked quietly.

"They say third times the charm," Percy said bitterly.

"Wait. There where three wars?"

Annabeth sighed. "Yes. The first was against Kronos. The Titan of Time himself. The war ended when the boy he had used as a host chose to sacrifice himself killing Kronos as well. His name was Luke Castellan. We lost a lot of friends in that war... Including a girl named Zoë Nightshade." The twins eyes widened as Annabeth continued. "The second was against Mother Earth, Gaea. In that war we ended up getting mixed up with Roman demigods. And the third... The third we..."

"We got into trouble with other gods," Percy said. "The Egyptians and the Norse gods- yes they exist too- challenged the Greeks and Romans. Which ever group was left would rule. They were too many casualties to have a single winner. Somehow amongst this confusion monsters began to die out. Reforming much less quickly. And so the remaining demigods chose to separate themselves in order to protect the people they love. The more demigods in a single spot the higher the chance that monsters would find them, and the demigods haven't really spoken at all in the past seventeen years. Until tonight. Once again monsters are attacking in organized groups so, all the demigods are coming from across the country to meet here."

Silence falls for a few minutes before Luke asked a question. "The safe havens... You said there were two. This one was obviously destroyed but what about the other?"

"Camp Jupiter," Annabeth nodded. "The camp and city for the Roman demigods. They suffered horrible losses as well... They all split up as well... But everyone we called is probably having the same conversation with their children and headed here."

"So can you do anything cool dad?" A voice asked from the back seat.

"Anything cool? I am the definition of cool! I am Supersized McShizzle!"

"Esperanza ignore your father," Calypso sighed. "He is a fire user."

"Could I do that too?" Esperanza asked.

"Let's find out!" Leo stated his hand setting a flame.

"You do realize that if she can't use fire, touching her with that could burn her right?" Calypso stated.

"Right..."

"So how are we getting to New York? And why New York?" Esperanza questioned.

"One reason is that Olympus is placed on the 600th floor of the Empire State Building. Also two of the people we are meeting with can't fly without fear of being struck down by a lighting bolt from Lord Zeus himself," Calypso responded bitterly.

"I take it you don't like him."

"We told you that your father is a son of Hephaestus but do you know who I am?"

"No....?"

"You read The Odyssey in school right?"

"Yeah. So?"

"In the story it tells of Odysseus's journey. In part of it, it mentions how Odysseus got stuck on an island called Ogygia-"

"Ooh! I remember this one! He was there with a girl whose curse it was to fall in love with men! Her name was... Calyp- wait are you saying?"

"Yup. I lucked out when I fell destroying her dinning table," Leo smiled.

"I liked that dinning table..."

"Why would you put it on the beach!"

"I was going to eat and watch the sunset!"

"Uh... So how are we getting to New York again?"

"Get out the car and find out," Leo smiled grabbing his bag and climbing out. They were a couple miles away from their auto shop and home where a huge shed stood out of place. Leo walked up the door and opened it.

Esperanza glanced inside and her mouth dropped open. "Is- is- is that a dragon?"

"Meet Festus! Festus, Esperanza!" The bronze dragon made a few weird sounds to which Leo laughed as he went to press a button on the wall and the ceiling opened.

"A dragon?"

"Yup. I found and fixed him up years ago. And even though the demigod part of my life practically ended I still kept up this guy's maintenance.

"Okay... So now what?"

"Climb on," Calypso smiled.

Once the family was situated on the dragon, Festus launched into the air.

Jason pulled the rental car around and Piper and their sons climbed in.

"I'm so tired," Samuel groaned.

"That's the jet lag," Piper told him.

"I still can't believe this is true," Tristan said looking out the window. "How long is it gonna take to get to his Camp Blood place?"

"Camp Half-Blood," Jason corrected. "And hopefully not long. But I still have to pick up your aunt Thalia."

"So we finally get to meet her?" Samuel asked.

"Mhmm."

"How come we haven't met her before?"

"That's um... I'll let her explain..."

Piper laughed. "I'm sure she'll love that."

...

"Move over."

Both boys blinked surprised at the girl who climbed into the back of the car with them. She appeared to be their age, her clothes were silver and she wore a silver crown like thing on top of spiky black hair.

"You're late Jase," she frowned.

"Yeah sorry. But good to see you Thalia."

"Same. But I wish it didn't have to be like this." Thalia turned and looked her two nephews. "You guys just had to have two boys."

"I didn't exactly need a daughter for you steal away."

Thalia rolled her eyes. "You going to say something to your aunt or just stare at her?"

Samuel mouth opened and closed. Tristan spoke. "You're our age?"

Thalia groaned. "You didn't explain? Basically I pledged myself to Lady Artemis and was rewarded with immortality as long as I remain a maiden."

"So how old are you?" Samuel asked.

"Seven years older than your father."

"What...?"

~~~~
"But why can't we fly?"
"Your mother is pregnant," Frank responded. "So we are unfortunately traveling a different way."
"Oh hush," Hazel said feeding a gold nugget to Arion as Frank hitched up a chariot to the horse.
"It's not my fault he doesn't like me. Climb in the chariot Emily."
~~~~

"Sometimes I regret marrying you."

"Katie! That one hurt. Hurt bad," Travis faked cried.

"I'm still semi confused."

"Ignore your parents. Uncle Connor is here. Now Mikey, Zara. Climb into the car. We got a lot of miles to cover."

~~~~
"Of course this is Prissy's fault."
"Mom? What's a Prissy?"
"Well he's Mr. Prissy to you."
"Just nod and pretend you understand," Chris whispered to Silena.
~~~~

The Big House was full for the first time in many years as old friends came together bringing children with them.

"I still would like to know if I'm gonna be an uncle again."

Hazel looked her brother in the eye. "Nico? You're going to be an uncle again."

He rolled his eyes.

"So we're only missing Reyna?" Annabeth noticed.

"None of us have been able to contact her," Jason said shaking his head. "Let's just start without her. She'll come whenever she does. She's tough I'm sure she's fine."

"Kids?" Annabeth asked. "Why don't you all go explore what's left of the camp while we talk?"

"You want us to wander around graves of hundreds of kids? Sure. Sounds great mom."

"Zoë..."

"Honestly why Zoë? What about me?" Thalia frowned.

Annabeth rolled her eyes. "Thalia is her middle name."

"Thalia Zoë would've been much better."

"Does that mean his middle name is Leo?"

"No."

"Okay... Sparky? One of those is Leo Jr. Right?"

Jason turned to all the kids. "Why don't you all head outside?"

Not having much of a choice the children all ventured outside into the sunshine and looking at the ruined buildings.

"What's going on?" Annabeth asked no one in particular. "Coordinated monster attacks..."

"We need to teach the kids how to fight."

"My daughter already knows how to fight," Clarisse smirked.

"No surprise there," Percy grumbled.

"So what do we do? Reopen the camp? We closed it for a reason," Piper put in.

"We might not have a choice at this point," Nico pointed out. "Two organized attacks on the same night? It's been rare to have a single monster attack for years."

"Even if we did re open, Chiron and Lupa are gone who will run it?" Hazel asked.

"We'd have to," Katie realized.

"The saytrs have vanished. Who would bring them here?" Connor asked.

"We would still have to rebuild organize and find out what is happening as the gods have been less than helpful over be years," Thalia stated.

"Rachel?" Annabeth asked. "Have you seen anything?"

Rachel shook her head. "Nothing of use."

"So are we gonna try to reopen or not?" Percy asked.

Eyes met and everyone nodded.

"We have to start trying to contact anyone we can, Rachel can handle that," Annabeth instructed. "Meanwhile Leo and I can draw up son construction plans. We're gonna need a couple people watching the borders just in case, I think that can be Jason and Frank."

"I can teach the brats," Clarisse volunteered. "Prissy here can be my punching bag."

Percy only let out a weak "Yay."

"I'll try to contact the gods through lady Artemis," Thalia decided.

"I can start a garden so we can actually eat," Katie suggested.

"I'll help," Calypso offered.

"I can-" Hazel started.

"You can rest," Frank interrupted.

"I want to be of some use."

"You can help make sure Clarisse doesn't kill our daughter."

"Chris can do supply runs," Clarisse volunteers ignoring Frank.

"That leaves us," Travis says swinging an arm around his brother's shoulder.

"Perfect," Annabeth said. "We're gonna need people to help break the old cabins down."

"Can we keep what we find?" Connor asked hopefully.

Annabeth paused. "After we all agree that you can."

"Fair enough."

"Alright. We should get to work."
