Every year of schooling is different

Each fall they unravel last year’s spring

They tell you it was all wrong

This is the right way now

You’d think they would work together

You’d think it would be cohesive

Smooth

But it’s jagged

I’m not sure what is wrong or what is right

It’s muddled

Unclear

Thoughts mingled and mashed

There is no cooperation

No connection between grades

I feel like I’m falling

Somewhere into space

So what am I learning

And why must I this way?

I don’t want to develop my thoughts

In this cell full of rules
