A cool wind blew past, and you did all you could to protect your baby’s face from the wind and the chaotic scene that was unfolding around you. Niall kept a grip on your arm, gently tugging you along as he fought to get through the crowd of paparazzi. This was the first time you were out in public with your baby girl, and all three of you were beyond nervous. You didn’t like the crowds to begin with, but now that you had your baby in your arms, it put you even more on edge. You kept a close eye on the people around you, and tried to stay as close to Niall as possible. He had far more experience with this sort of thing than you did.

Cameras were flashing everywhere you looked, to the point where you were struggling to keep track of Niall. You don’t know how it happened, but one minute you were holding onto him, and the next, he was nowhere to be seen. A panic washed over you, and you abruptly stopped in your spot, unintentionally making it easier for the paparazzi to swarm around you. Your heart raced as you held onto your baby girl and tried to scan the crowd as best as you could, looking for Niall.

Niall’s eyes widened and he quickly glanced around him when he realized that you were no longer behind him. The paparazzi were shouting questions at him, but he wasn’t really listening; he was focused on locating you. He stood on his tip-toes, trying to spot you in the crowd that only seemed to be growing. Not only were the paparazzi collecting around him, but fans were also starting to gather. He became more and more nervous as seconds continued to pass. He struggled to get through the mass of people, mumbling apologies every time he accidentally stepped on someone’s foot. “(Y/N)!” He called out, followed by a groan of frustration when he realized that you probably couldn’t hear him over the noise.

You placed your hand on the back of your baby’s head, again trying to protect her from the cold wind as you continued to search for Niall. You didn’t know how to act in situations like these. Usually, Niall would be at your side, helping you get past the paparazzi. But now you were on your own and a bit frightened by it. You could hear various voices shouting your name, but you weren’t able to match any of them to Niall’s voice. Your baby sharply cried out as you got shoved to the side by a figure that passed too quickly for you to identify. She sobbed in your arms, and you tried to hush her, but you knew it was a pointless effort. “Niall!” You frantically shouted in a shaky and uneven voice.

Almost miraculously, you spotted Niall as he grabbed the collar of some guy in front of you. He growled at the guy, “Don’t you ever touch my family again.”

“Niall!” You shouted again, and this time he heard you. His head snapped in the direction of your voice, and he let go of the guy as he hurried over to you. He almost tripped over other people’s feet, but he didn’t care anymore. He needed to be with you; to protect you and the baby.

He grabbed your shoulders and looked into your eyes, asking, “Are you okay?”

You swallowed hard as tears brimmed in your eyes. You didn’t even need to answer him. He took your arm and aggressively forced his way through the crowd. He didn’t stop until you were safely at his car. Once the baby was secured in her car seat, you slid into the passenger’s seat and Niall found his spot on the driver’s side. He checked to make sure that the doors were locked before throwing his head back with a long sigh of relief. His chest heaved as he attempted to catch his breath, and you wiped the loose tears from your eyes.

“I saw that guy push you,” Niall blurted, “He’s lucky you distracted me, because otherwise I would have beaten the crap out of him.” He sucked in a deep breath before looking over at you. He took your hand in his and asked, “Are you okay, sweetheart?”

You nodded and said, “Yeah, I’m better now. I was just a little scared, that’s all. And then she started crying and I couldn’t find you and I didn’t know what to do-” You rambled on, but Niall interrupted you.

“It’s okay, you’re both safe now. I promise I won’t ever let this happen again. Do you want to sit for a little longer, or should we just go?” He spoke sweetly while massaging circles into the palm of your hand with his thumb.

You looked out the window and answered, “I think we should leave.”

“Okay,” Niall nodded. He let go of your hand and instead placed his hands on the steering wheel after putting the key in the ignition. He lightly pressed on the gas, carefully easing his way out of the busy parking lot.

He tapped his fingers on the steering wheel and glanced at his baby through the rear-view mirror. “She’s sleeping back there,” He said aloud. A smile tugged at his lips and he brought his eyes back to the road ahead of him.

“Good, she’s probably exhausted. We’re gonna have to feed her when we get home,” You said, watching out the window.

“I’ll feed her,” Niall demanded, “You just relax. I’ll fill the tub for you and you can relax in there for a while. You need it.”

“Not any more than you do,” You reminded him. “I honestly don’t know how you do it, Niall. I mean, you’ve got to be running on like no energy right now. You just go, go, go, all the time. You should take some time for yourself, too.”

He yawned and chuckled as you said, “See! You’re tired, aren’t you? Poor thing. You need sleep. Why don’t you let me feed her this time? You should take a nap when we get home.”

Niall shook his head, and with a sigh, he told you, “Alright, how about this. Since we’ll never be able to agree on anything else, we can both feed her and then we can both relax in a bubble bath. How does that sound?”

You smiled and turned to him as you said, “That sounds great.”

When you got home, you unbuckled your baby and carried her into the house while Niall prepared a bottle for her. He was shaking the bottle in his hand and dancing around the kitchen when you found him. You giggled and kissed the side of his face before setting your baby into her high chair by the table. He danced his way over to her, and tilted the bottle to her lips, watching as she swallowed the formula as if she hadn’t had any in days. Your baby was already a lot like both you and Niall in the sense that she never turned down food. Niall used his fingers to wipe her face, mumbling about how messy she was.

While he finished up with that, you got her crib all ready for her. You turned on the mobile that hung over her crib, because she loved watching it. Niall appeared behind you with the baby on his hip. You turned and held out your arms, smiling at her as you took her in your arms. You kissed her forehead before gently placing her in her crib. You carefully tucked her in, making sure that she was all comfortable before you turned to Niall and left the room, hand-in-hand. Niall waved at the crib as you crossed the hall to the bathroom, where you ran the water for the tub.

He closed the bathroom door by leaning his back against it. He stood, leaning against the door, with his knee bent and his hands in his pockets while you bent over to pour some scented bubble bath into the tub. Niall smirked and took the opportunity to playfully smack your bum. You shrieked and he giggled. “Sorry, I had to,” He said as he continued to giggle. The poor man was so tired that almost anything seemed funny to him, even more than usual.

You curled up with each other in the tub, tangling your legs with his as you lay with your back rested against his chest. Your head sat on his shoulder as he ran his hands up and down your arms. He placed sweet kisses along your neck and onto your shoulder. His fingers eventually intertwined with yours, and you sat enjoying the silence. After some time, you blinked your eyes open to see that he had fallen asleep with his chin rested on your shoulder. You smiled and decided to let him be.
