I Think We Should

You grinned at your husband as he moseyed through the door, lazily pushing the heavy door shut behind him. He lovingly smiled at you, pausing in his spot to open his arms and welcome you into them.

"Hey," You mumbled into his chest, once he had you enveloped in his warmth. He let out a long sigh and just continued to hold you close. You tried to pull away, to ask him how his day was, but his grip only tightened, and you found yourself being shoved flat against his chest with your cheek pressed to his shirt. "Ni?" You squeaked, as he was nearly squeezing the breath out of you.

He chuckled a little and loosened his grip so that you could wiggle away. "Sorry," He said with another giggle, "I just..." This time, he let out another deep sigh while stepping out of his shoes. "S'been a long day, princess. That's all."

"Oh?" Your eyebrows furrowed in curiosity, taking Niall's hand. He watched you as you led him into the kitchen, letting you control his tired body. You patted the counter and he didn't hesitate to hop onto it, sitting so that his legs dangled over the edge of the counter. Shuffling through the refrigerator, you asked, "What happened, Ni? Tell me all about your day."

Niall stared at you for a minute before dropping his eyes to watch his legs swing over the edge of the counter. "Just busy," He mumbled, "And frustrating."

"Frustrating, how?" You asked, pulling out a banana, a box of strawberries, and a carton of milk.

Niall's eyes immediately lit up. "Are you making smoothies?!" He squealed, giggling like a child. His whole mood was lifted now.

Rolling your eyes, you chuckled and said, "Because I love you."

"Man, I love you too, princess," Niall beamed, leaning forward to peck your cheek. But he was farther away from you than he thought he was, so he toppled over and definitely would've landed on the floor had your reflexes not kicked in the way they did. You gasped and quickly caught him, before he could land in a tired heap on the kitchen floor. He lazily grinned, staring up into your eyes with his dazed ones. He giggled some more and you smiled at him. Like a sleepy little puppy, he was.

Yawning, Niall commented, "That was impressive. You've got good reflexes."

Proudly grinning, you said, "Why thank you, Sir Horan."

Niall cackled and said in return, " 'Tis my pleasure, Lady (Y/N)." His eyes met with yours as you dumped ingredients into the blender and he smirked, adding, "Actually, you're a Horan now, too, aren't ya?"

You blushed a bit at his words, without any definite reason. He chuckled and tickled your sides, pulling you into him to hum, "Yeah..."

You smiled and kissed the tip of his nose. "Only because of you," You said. Pulling away from him, you playfully shoved him and said, "It's all your fault that I'm a Horan now!" As if it were a bad thing. Part of you enjoyed your married name far better than your birth name, in reality.

Niall laughed again and watched you turn the blender on before shouting over the noise, "Hey, lemme tell you - it's an honor to be a Horan!" You giggled and raised your eyebrows, egging him on. "I mean, look at us." He winked before continuing, "We're all a bunch of great lookin' people!" You laughed at his reasoning, but also because he had to shout over the loud blender. Keeping with this loud tone, Niall proceeded to explain, "And we chase our dreams in this family..." The noise of the blender came to a halt then, as if even the kitchen device was interested in hearing Niall's speech. "We chase our dreams and we don't stop until we get what we think we deserve," He told you. His lips curled up into a shy grin as he finished, "We never let anyone down."
