*One week later*

The boys were getting tired of knowing that you were in the area, but they couldn’t spend any time with you because you were staying with Niall. They had considered just dropping in on you, but if they were going to drop in on you, then they would also be dropping in on Niall. Niall was especially protective over you now that you were staying with him, but of course, the boys didn’t know what was going on between you and Niall behind closed doors. They had their suspicions, seeing as you can’t really put a single boy and a single girl in a living space together and not expect things to happen. But when you had barely any contact with them over the first week that you were there, they were starting to lose their patience. After all, Niall wasn’t the only one that wanted to see you.

So, they came up with an easy solution. They called Niall and invited him, and you, of course, to meet them at Liam’s place and watch a soccer game together. Harry said he would bring food if Niall could handle drinks. Niall was all up for bringing alcohol, but Harry persuaded him out of it by reminding him that you would be there, and that they didn’t want to make any stupid mistakes with you around. Long story short, you and Niall drove over to Liam’s apartment with a couple bags of soda in the backseat.

You weren’t too huge into soccer, and you didn’t know much about it, but you sat though the game for the purpose of being in your friends’ company. You had fun sitting back and watching Louis lose his mind whenever his team missed a goal, or Niall nearly ripping his hair out because his team, the opposing team, was behind by a few points. Louis, Niall, and Liam were crowded around the television for most of the time, so you used the opportunity to catch up with Zayn and Harry.

“So what do you do when you’re not touring?” You asked them, desperate to spark any type of conversation.

Harry looked at you as if you had just asked the most ridiculous question in the world before responding, “What do you mean? We all meet at Liam’s house and watch football.”

Your shoulders fell and you raised your eyebrows at him. “I mean, apart from that. What do you do? Aren’t you going to go home and visit your family?”

Zayn looked up from his phone, and both you and Harry turned to look at him as he said, “I am. I’m leaving next week.”

“Well tell them I said hello,” You said to Zayn, and he nodded before dropping his eyes back down to his phone. The screen lit up his features as he typed. Zayn left his hair down, and it fell perfectly around his face. His hair was much longer than the last time you saw him, but it looked nice. This observation got you thinking, and soon you were staring at each boy individually, identifying what was different about them. Harry’s hair had grown out a lot too, and there would have been a time when you would have begged him to get a haircut, but now as you sat back and really looked at him, his long hair fit him rather nicely. Liam was growing some facial hair, and his body was shaped more like that of a grown man’s. Out of all of them, Liam was definitely the most mature in personality and appearance.

Your eyes trailed over to Louis and a smile almost instantly tugged at your lips. He was on his feet now, with his hands knotted in his hair as he yelled at the television. Louis always had a mischievous look about him, but now that he was older, it was more of a challenging smirk that was sure to lure anyone in. But Louis was turning out to be quite the gentleman. Niall was standing next to Louis, inches away from the television screen as he stood still, waiting for something to happen. His team now had a slight lead on Louis’ team, and it was obvious in the way that his body had relaxed. He tapped his fingers on the sides of his legs as he stood, keeping his eyes glued to the screen in fear that something game-changing might happen if he were to look away. Like you noticed before, Liam was the best built out of all of them, but Niall’s arms had developed a little more muscle since the last time you visited. He had definitely improved in the chest hair department, which he proudly showed off in the V-neck shirt that he was wearing. He was wearing tight skinny jeans with holes in the knees, so if he turned at just the right angle, you could see the scar on his knee from his surgery. You couldn’t be with him the day that he had his surgery, but you called him countless times before and after it happened to make sure that everything turned out okay. In all honesty, your phone calls were the only thing that Niall looked forward to that day. Your voice calmed him; just knowing that you were thinking about him put him at ease.
