"So, it's like an award ceremony... kind of...?" Niall tried to understand, leaning against the bathroom door frame. His eyes watched you while you caked on another layer of mascara. You asked him to be your prom date, and of course, he happily agreed. However, prom in your town would be run a little differently than in Ireland, and Niall was struggling to understand these differences.

"Not really," You said with a chuckle. Niall let out an annoyed sigh. Twisting your mascara shut, you settled your eyes on him. "It's like... to celebrate your senior year. Your last year of high school before moving on to college or whatever you're going to do after high school. It's basically a big dance and practically the entire graduating class is there. You just take pictures and dance and there's food, too. Sometimes they have extra activities, like laser tag or a bean-bag toss or something like that." He nodded slowly, somewhat catching on. "Nialler, it's really not that hard to understand," You told him with an innocent giggle.

"Is someone bringing alcohol?" Niall asked, ready to volunteer for that job, if need be. His eyes tried to lock with yours as you zipped up your makeup bag and shoved it aside.

You laughed and shook your head, checking over your reflection one last time. You were about as pleased as you were going to get. Facing Niall, you smiled at him before moving around him. He followed you into your bedroom. Sitting on the bed, Niall watched as you pulled your dress out of your closet. "The seniors should be younger than twenty-one," You explained, "It would be illegal to have alcohol there. Plus, there'll be a few cops there. You wouldn't want to start any trouble."

"Oh," He simply said, leaning back on your bed.

After catching a glimpse of the time, you excused yourself to change. From across the hall, you called, "Niall, I think you should probably start getting ready pretty soon. We need to leave in like an hour." As you shut the bathroom door, Niall's eyebrows furrowed. He didn't think he'd need a whole hour to get ready, but he listened to you, nonetheless.

After gathering his suit from where he left it in the living room, Niall stripped down to his boxers. He pulled his pants up and fastened them around his waist before pulling on his white button-down shirt. He was halfway along with the buttons when you invited yourself into your bedroom, carrying the clothes you changed out of. Both you and Niall froze in your spots. After eyeing you over, Niall breathed, "Wow, you - you look beautiful, princess." He fitted his tie around his neck. You felt a blush rising to your face as you dropped your eyes.

"Thank you, sir," You mumbled. A shy smile formed on your lips as you stepped up to him and nudged his arm. "You look good, too," You told him, sending him a wink. He grinned and shrugged into his black jacket that went over the white shirt. After fastening a few buttons on his jacket, Niall smoothed his hands over the front of his suit. He found a mirror in your bedroom and examined his appearance while you found the jewelry you picked out ahead of time. You'd been anticipating this night for so long. You started planning your outfit and just about anything else that you could plan months beforehand.

Holding the necklace in your hands, you smiled. It was one Niall had given you a while ago, and it was still your favorite necklace you owned. It was of a silver color with two pendants dangling from it; one with a heart and the other with the letter 'n' engraved into it - to stand for Niall. When he'd first given it to you, he said he wanted to give you something to symbolize his love for you. The necklace which you deeply cherished, was that and more to you.
