You sat on the beach, happily watching small waves roll in. You had laid out your favorite beach towel, and you found yourself comfortably seated in the center of it. The sand was warm underneath the towel, and the sun beat down on you. These were the kind of summer days that you adored.

You heard the noises of kids splashing around, and watched as random people passed by. You’d packed a book, but you actually weren’t in much of a reading mood. So, you decided to enjoy the view instead.

That is, until a soccer ball interrupted your thoughts. You were smacked right in the side with a multi-colored ball. You turned to grab it, and chuck it at the reckless owner, when you stopped. You stared up into a pair of blue eyes, which were staring back at you.

“I’m s-sorry. That’s…um…that’s my fault,” He said, pointing at the soccer ball that finally stopped rolling around next to you.

You immediately forgot what even happened, and you snatched the ball. You stood up, almost at the same height of this boy. You handed the ball to him, peering behind him to see a group of four others snickering at you two.

“Sorry again,” He muttered, in his strong Irish accent. You smiled.

“No, it’s fine.”

He nodded, turning to walk away when he spun back around again. He stared at you for a second, until he decided to say something.

“Um…you wanna…play with us?” He asked, realizing how awkward it sounded after he said it. He shook his head at the thought.

“Ha ha, sure,” You agreed, following after him.

He led you to his four friends, whom were still winking and snickering. He just rolled his eyes, while you watched them.

One with curly brown hair extended a hand before asking, “What’s your name, love?”

“Oh! I’m (Y/N),” You answered, feeling stupid for not introducing yourself.

“I’m Zayn,” Said another one, with black hair. He smiled at you, too.

“Liam,” Said another one, he gave you a warm smile.

“Oh, yea, I’m Harry Styles,” Said the curly guy. He smirked at you. You just smiled awkwardly.

“Wassup? I’m Louis,” Said one other one. He too had brown hair, which looked a bit ruffled. You giggled, shaking his hand.

“Oh…I’m…uh…I’m Niall,” Niall said, stuttering. He had blonde hair, and was the same boy that came up to you earlier. He was the whole reason that you were even standing with them.

“Nice to meet you all,” You smiled once again, still holding their soccer ball. You looked down, realizing that you were still holding it, and tossed it to Liam.

You guys awkwardly talked for a minute or two before Louis suggested that you start playing. So, you guys kicked around the ball for a while. You didn’t know much about the sport, but you knew enough to play a couple games with them. You eventually split up into teams, three on each.

“You’re good,” Niall complemented, as he ran past you. His comment took your attention away from the ball that was once at your feet. You watched as Niall dashed across the grass, smiling at his success in stealing the ball from you. He easily kicked the ball straight in, for a goal.

He smirked at you, as he ran back down the field. You nodded in response, forming a plan in your head. This time, you dashed next to him, whispering “Pull your pants up.” You kicked the ball away from him, happily scoring for your team. You cheered, smirking at Niall this time.

When the game was over, you all kind of migrated towards the water for a quick dip. You didn’t hesitate at all. You ran straight into the cold water. After splashing around and making a fool out of yourself for a few minutes, you decided to actually swim. You were quite the swimmer. Eight years of experience was paying off.

Suddenly you felt two strong arms wrap around your waist. You were a bit shocked at first, but relieved when you saw the blonde hair hanging above you. You looked up into Niall’s eyes as he whispered in your ear, “That was mean.”

“What was mean?” You innocently asked.

“What you did back there. Stealing from me, you evil girl,” He smirked, chuckling toward the end.

“Hey, you stole from me first! It was only payback, dear,” You smiled.

He nodded, and suddenly you were in the air. You squirmed around as Niall carried you out of the water. You were laughing, but a little scared too.

He carried you out to where your towel was still laid out in the sand, grabbing his own on the way. He sat you down on your towel, right next to him. You smiled as you watched the other boys push each other around. It was kind of amusing how childish they could be.

Niall patted your hand, in attempt to get your attention, which you gladly gave to him. He smiled at you.

“So, (Y/N), I’m really glad that I kicked that ball at you,” He said.

Your first instinct was to get mad, but then you realized where he might be going with this. So, you played along with him. “I’m glad too,” You said, leaning on his shoulder.

“I feel like I’ve known you for years, when it’s really only been hours,” He told you.

“Right?!” You attempted, in your best girly voice. He laughed with you, until people started staring. Then you guys stiffened up a bit, not wanting too much attention.

At the end of the day, Niall ended up giving you his number. And you, of course, texted him as soon as you got home, already planning to meet up with him tomorrow. You smiled to yourself as you jotted down the note on your calendar, for tomorrow’s date:

6:00 dinner with Niall <3
