Chapter 72 (The Resthouse and the Garden)

Caring for someone is easy but making someone care for you is hard…  Now I keep wondering how you made it so easy for me to care for you…

David was leaning against the wall looking intently at Gio and Alexa as they talked…  When he saw Alexa made a move towards them, he turned away…  He did not expect what he would witness when he heard Jackie called out to Alexa…

Jackie :  Oh dear me…  ALLY!!!

When David turned around, he saw her struggling to free herself from Gio…  Crissy started to move followed by Jackie but instinct told David to run…

Jackie :  David!!!

Everyone followed him…  Just as he was about to pull Alexa away from him he saw Gio’s hand landed on Alexa’s face that would have sent her to the ground if David had not been there to catch her…  When David saw blood on her face, he lost it…  With a punch right in the nose and a high kick on his chest, Gio went down on the floor bloodied and he never knew what hit him…  Alexa hugged David to stop him from further hurting Gio…

Alexa :  David, please stop!!!

David :  (With Alexa trying to keep him away from Gio, David warned him…)  No one in my presence can hurt Alexa…  If they do, they will answer to me…  Let that serve as a warning…  And I don’t care who you are…  (David turned to Alexa who was still holding him tight…  He forced her to face him to check on her bloodied lip…)  Are you alright?  Why did you allow him to hurt you like that?

Mr. Gordon stepped outside his office after his secretary informed him of what happened and ran to the aid of David and Alexa who was trying to pacify David…  He instructed his secretary to take them inside his office before a crowd could gather, while he stayed to check on Gio…  Crissy took Alexa to the bathroom to help her clean herself up…  She already saw her bloodied lip earlier and she was concerned…

Crissy :  Okay ka lang ba?  Mabuti napigilan mo si David…  Akala ko papatayin nya si Gio eh…  Ang bilis nung suntok at sipa nya…  Ang galing!!! [Are you okay?  It’s just as well that you were able to stop David…  I thought he was going to kill Gio…  He was quick with his punch and his kick…  He’s good!!!]

Alexa :  Crissy?  Ano ka ba?  [Why are you like that?]

Crissy :  Anong ‘ano ka ba’?  Kung hindi ginawa yun ni David, ako ang sasampal sa kanya…  Patulan ba ang babae, tama ba ‘yun? [What do you mean ‘why are you like that…’?  If David did not do that, I would have slapped him…  Is that the way to treat a woman?]

Alexa :  Pero sana hindi na nya sinaktan si Gio…  Sana hinayaan na lang nya…  Alam mo naman ang balita madaling kumalat yan…  Nakakahiya naman sa kanya…  Pati sya nadamay sa gulo namin… [But he shouldn’t have hurt Gio…  He should have stayed put…  You know fast the news spreads…  I’m ashamed that David had to be involved in this mess…]

Crissy :  Sige nga sabihin mo sa akin, sa ugali ng asawa mong hilaw na hindi normal ang personalidad, nakitang winasiwas at sinampal ang mahal nya ng ibang lalaki, ano sa palagay mo ang gagawin nya?  Si Val nga gustong ring sumugod eh…  Pinigilan ko lang…  Kitang-kita naming yung pagkakasampal sa iyo ‘no…  Tapos nakita pa nya na may dugo ka sa labi… [Alright you tell me, with that temper of your bogus husband whose personality is somewhat abnormal, happens to see that his love one is being shaken and slapped by a man, what do you expect he’d do?  Val wanted to charge to the scene as well…  I just stopped him…  We all saw how Gio hit you…  Then he saw your bloodied face…]

Alexa :  Ha?

Crissy :  Oo ‘no…  Palagay ko nga doon nagdilim ang paningin nya eh…  Ano ba ang nangyari at naumbag ka ng ganyan?  Hindi naman siguro mangyayari iyan kung tungkol lang sa project…  Sabihin mo nga? [Oh yes…  I think that’s when he lost it…  What did happen and he hit you like that?  I don’t think that would happen if it’s only about the project…  Will you tell me?
