『Preview』| Continuation of Chapter VIII
"Ms. Mafillia, are you sure you want to do this?"
Mr. Cain asked me one more time.
I bit my lip in hesitation.
I clenched my hands into a fist.
"Yeah."
"But aren't you afraid that Mr. Sterling might be upset about this?"
He gave me a sad look.
I lowered my gaze from his.
"He might, but I need to know."
I said and took off, opening the door in front of me, I walked into the speculation room.
The walls were painted an ugly dark color of grey,
No windows,
No mirrors,
Simply a square room with a metallic table and two chairs that were placed on opposite sides.
I sat down on the chair and rested my forearm on the table,
Feeling the coldness from the metal table.
Mr. Cain stood beside me
And handed me a file.
I opened the file,
A piece of paper with a photo attached to it.
"Ex new recruit,
Only worked for us for 6 months."
Mr. Cain stated as I glanced at the information on the piece of paper.
A chuckle echoed and resonated the room,
It grew louder as time ticked away.
Mr. Cain walked to the other side of the table and took out his luxury handkerchief.
"Wait, don't-"
I said, but it was a second too late.
He held it tight and shoved the handkerchief in the man's open mouth, gagging him.
His laughter instantly turned into mums.
I sighed.
"You could've done it nicer."
He chuckled.
"You're too nice, Ms. Mafillia.
You'll never get any answers that way."
I sighed in agreement.
After moments of science, I waved my hand and Mr. Cain took the handkerchief from the mouth of the guy that looked identical to the picture on my file.
The man exhaled and coughed,
His spilt dripping down his chin.
"Now, tell me."
I said with a straight face.
He chuckled once again,
"Mafillia, you have no idea what kind of man he is."
