Spring was almost over and it had been a while since Mafu went to the park. He was rolled up under his blanket, at the corner of his bed. Mafu had not left his room ever since he came back home from the park that day, not even for his job, or for food. Definitely not for that person either. You might be wondering, how can Mafu live in his room without necessities? But of course, there was someone who possessed the keys to his house. Not to mention that his room was connected to the washroom.
Mafu flinched under his blankets when he heard a click at the front door from his room. The sound was actually loud enough to be heard from a room with its doors closed. He listened closely as the door into his house creaked open, the sound of the footsteps stepping into his house sounded like there was more than one person who came in today.
"Mafu-kun?" he heard someone call him after a thud sound was made. It must have been him putting the things he brought on the floor. Mafu decided to not reply to it, pulling onto his blanket, he curled up into a ball and buried his face into the sheets.
He heard whispering outside his room, but Mafu did not feel like eavesdropping anymore. He closed his eyes, and thought about him. All he wanted now, was him to be here by his side. Yet it felt like he was going somewhere, somewhere far where Mafu could not reach him. What he said the other day made Mafu consider, reconsider, and then repeat.
Mafu could not do it. He could not bring himself to do it. He could not just forget about him. Soraru was the very first person he thought he was comfortable with. And after what he just did to him, there was no way Mafu could have done it. He blamed him for doing things at him. If he did not and just told him that he did not hold any feelings for him, then wouldn't have things gotten easier from there?
"Mafu-kun?" someone knocked on his door lightly, twice. "Open up, I've not seen you in a while. I'm glad that you're finishing the food I left at the doorway but please let me see you," he pleaded, but Mafu only held onto his blankets, not wanting to give a response.
Another click.
And then the sound of the door being pushed open.
"Uwah... Mafu-kun," the 'intruder' came in, and flipped the lights on. The room was instantly brightened up. Pillows and blankets were scattered everywhere, piles of clothes could be seen at one corner of the room. Bottles of finished and unfinished water were lined up unevenly beside the bed. "How long has it been since you cleaned your room?" he asked as he picked up some of Mafu's T-shirts from the ground out of habit.
Mafu did not say anything. He did not expect him to have a copy of keys to his room as well.
He heard the 'intruder' sigh. Before he could react, his blankets were pulled off of him. He tried to take it back but he could not, not when he was in this state, where he did not even have the energy left to talk back.
"Amatsuki-kun," he called out, weakly, still trying to reach for his blanket. "Give it back,"
"Look at you," Amatsuki threw the blankets onto one side of the ground, far away from Mafu. "Your eyes are swollen. How long were you crying?" he reached out to rub the tear stains off of Mafu's cheek with his thumbs, he frowned, obviously worried.
"Amatsuki-kun, don't take it away from me..." Mafu said, tears welling up in his eyes. "It's the only thing I have left for me to hold on to,"
"Mafu-kun... You need to get up from bed. I'll go make something for you to eat, okay?" he petted Mafu gently on the head. "Go clean yourself up in the bathroom,"
However, Mafu did not want to. He just sat there as he watched Amatsuki leave his room, picking up a few piles of clothes as he did, probably taking it to the washing machine. Mafu lowered his head, his hands balled into fists on his bedsheets. He knew that Amatsuki was trying to help him, but he really could not seem to help himself.
Mafu felt another presence in the room, it did not belong to Amatsuki. He lifted his head to find a man standing at his doorway, his arms crossed as he leaned onto the door frame. He had a mask on his face, not the one people normally use. The mask, shaped like a fox, covers the top half of his face. He did not give Mafu an unpleasant feeling though. The man gave him a broad smile, and stood up straight.
"I'm sorry to surprise you, but my name is Itou Kashitarou," he nodded at him, his smile still pasted on his face.
"It's okay, Itou-san," Mafu said as he shook his head slowly, still confused at why was he here in his house, in his room.
"Please, Kashitarou is fine," he corrected Mafu.
"Kashitarou-san,"
"I'm sure you are pretty confused right now," he said, chuckling. "I don't know if you heard from Amatsuki-kun, but he's dating now,"
Why the sudden mention of Amatsuki? "Yes, I'm aware,"
"Do you know who that other half is?"
"No. The only thing I knew about him was that he's a man," But he never seen him personally because Amatsuki said that he was a busy man. Still, who is this guy here talking about Amatsuki's love life?
"That man is actually me," Kashitarou pointed at himself, seemingly proud to announce his relationship with Amatsuki. "Nice to meet you,"
When Kashitarou said the former sentence, Amatsuki was right behind him, his hands was full with a tray of food. With his feet, he kicked Kashitarou from the behind and into the room. "Didn't I tell you to let me tell him?!"
"But Amatsuki-kun, it's been so long," Kashitarou turned his head to look at him, pouting as he rubbed at where Amatsuki kicked him. "And he's your best friend, so I had to meet him,"
"Idiot..." he walked in after and came by Mafu's bed. "Here, porridge and some pudding," Amatsuki handed Mafu a spoon, then placed the tray on Mafu's lap.
Mafu, without saying anything, lowered his head and fiddled with the food with his spoon, earning a glare from Amatsuki, only then did he scoop a bite out of it. "Why are you telling me this now?" Mafu honestly thought that this was not the right moment to tell him all of these. His first love was over not long ago and then here he have Amatsuki showing off.
"I just had to," Amatsuki then pointed to the back with his thumb. "This guy here says he wants to follow since I've been coming over thrice every day," Kashitarou came in with a small bucket of water and a face towel, handing it to Amatsuki. Amatsuki then soaked the towel into the water, twisted it then dabbed it lightly on Mafu's eyes, also not forgetting to help him clean his face. It felt cold and nice. "And I know the next thing that comes out from my mouth would be hard for you to believe but he's actually not human,"
Mafu, seemingly calm, put in another bite into his mouth. "Then what is he?" his voice muffled as he talked with his mouth full. "A tree spirit?" he laughed mockingly at himself when he said it aloud, he did not know why he said it but it certainly backstabbed at him.
No one talked after what he said, only the sound of Kashitarou slurping onto a box of orange juice, which he got from the fridge on his way to get the water and towel, could be heard.
Repetitively moving his head from the left to the right to look at both Amatsuki and Kashitarou, Mafu opened his mouth to ask, "What?"
"Kashitarou-san is a maple tree spirit," was what he got as an answer.

A/N: Yes, this is a filler chapter. And yes, it's going to be another filler chapter on the next too. The purpose of this is to fill up holes in this story that I've started. I thought that I should finally introduce the other spirit to help out with the story. I've inserted a few light Kashitsuki moments, I hope you enjoyed it even though it's pretty shallow. I can promise that the chapter after the next has Soraru in it, so please bear with me!
