32. [She can't have you]

They dropped off Ava just about half an hour after leaving the record store. She was going to start school the next day and was not really looking forward to it. The thought of facing it all over again and getting used to it made her want to cry, but it was after all, for a better future and opportunities. "Call me before you go to bed okay?" Jordan told her as he walked her to the front porch while helping her carry her things. "I'll try to but I'm so tired, so if I end up falling asleep on the phone, it's not my fault" she admits as she yawns and uses her hand to cover her mouth. "You're right, never mind then I'll just let you sleep" he responds a bit disappointed and sad eyes. "How about this, I'm gonna take a nap, when I wake up, I'll call you and you can hear me complain about not wanting to go to school tomorrow" she suggests and he chuckles. "Deal" he accepts and smiles. Ava's eyes soften at the sight, god he was everything she didn't know she wanted. "Well, I gotta go before Danny drives off" he says gesturing to the few honks that came from the car behind him, where Danny, Joey, Donnie, and Jon were all waiting impatiently. "Okay, well bye Jordan," Ava says with a hint of disappointment in her voice. "Bye baby" he says as he brushes his hand on her cheek and then leans in to kiss her forehead. As Jordan was turning around to walk away, she got ahold of his arm and swiftly turned him around to plant a soft kiss on his full warm lips. "If you wanted a kiss goodnight, why didn't you just say so?" he teased and pulled her in for another, lingering it there for a moment before finally releasing her lips. Ava pouted watching the distance between them increase as Jordan walked back towards the car. They waited until she unlocked the front door and close it behind her before driving away.

Ava sighed as she noticed that her mother was already sleeping and her stepfather was not home. She went to visit her mom just to assure her that she was back and her mother greeted her with a warm hug and a kiss. "Goodnight" Ava said as she slowly shut the door. She was so ready to just knock out. Although she was sort of getting accustomed to Jordan's warm body wrapped around hers, she knew that it would be a little hard, trying to return to her usual sleeping partner. Ava practically dragged herself to her room and plopped herself on the bed. She figured that she should fix her bag for the first day of class to get it over with and not have to deal with it in the morning. This took no longer than 20 minutes, but her eyes were finding it hard to stay open. Therefore, she slipped on her sleepwear, brushed her teeth, washed her face and then turned off the lights. Ava debated whether or not to call Jordan but he did ask her to and she didn't want to keep him waiting.

Dialing his number, she waited for him to answer, her eyes were threatening to shut at any moment. "Hello?" He answered. "Jordan .. it's me" she said as she tried her hardest to stay awake. "Oh baby hi" he greeted in a soft voice. "Hey" she responded politely. " Are you home already?" She asked. "Yeah just got here actually" he replied with a small yawn. "That's good" she said. "I-I start school in the morning and I don't want to go" she half whined and then yawned. "I know but you said you wanted to continue your education here right?". "I did but I'm kind of nervous, I mean, I'm in another state and in a new environment" she explained. "You'll be fine baby, if you want, I could drop you off and then pick you up after class" he suggested. "No, Jordan I'm fine, although seeing you would make it bearable" she admitted and chuckled. "Besides, aren't you busy with writing music and stuff?" she asked as she tried rubbing the sleep from her eyes. "No, not yet, we're taking a small hiatus until we start planning out the next album" he answered. "Oh, okay I see". "How many classes are you taking?" he questioned. "Umm 3 for now, why?". "I wanna be able to see you as much as I can" he admitted in a low voice. "As much as you can?" she repeated. "Uhh yeah, y-you know cause I'm sure you're going to be busy with school and work," he said almost stammering his words. "I'm always going to try to make time for you as you do for me" Ava assured him in a gentle voice. "You're not going to get tired of me?" he asks needing reassurance. "No, of course not, I could never get tired of you, I care about you so much". "You have no idea how much you mean to me Ava, like no clue how I feel inside" he admits. "Oh is that a bad thing?" she teases and he chuckles. "Not really no" Jordan responds and bites his lip. "Besides, it should be the other way around" Ava speaks. "What do you mean?". "Shouldn't it be me, making sure that you won't grow tired of well.. me?". "Now why would you say that?" he questions. his voice laced with sadness. "I don't know, you're, like... you're-". "A new kid?" he finishes her sentence. "Yeah, I'm sure you've broken some hearts here and there, and I-I'm not saying it as you broke them intentionally, I'm saying in the sense that you're one of a kind, and I know I'm not the only one who's fallen or could be falling for you the way I am" she speaks. Jordan remains silent for a moment. "I-I'm sorry if said anything that might've offended you" she adds hoping that he wasn't mad. "No, of course not, I understand what you mean, but I do want you to understand one thing, I only have eyes for you, I've told you this before, actually I told you this the night I asked you to be my girl, trust me when I say that I won't hurt you ever, I want this, I want you and me for as long as possible, I don't want to think about time or the future, I just want it to be me and you, nobody else". Ava felt like her cheeks were hurting from smiling too hard, Jordan's words caressed her heart with delicacy. " Okay Jordan, I trust you, I always did, I'm sorry for always needing reassurance" Ava admitted almost ashamed. "Hey no no, none of that, you know I understand, but you're not dating somebody not human, it's just me Jordan Knight, or Jordan Nathaniel Marcel Knight or J as my brother calls me". " Nathaniel Marcel?" Ava repeats with a wholehearted chuckle. "Yes, you heard that right" he answers. "Cute" she gushes and he groans. " Those are great names for a boy". "Maybe we could name our kids that" he blurts out and she freezes. "Too soon sorry" he says immediately regretting it. "L-Let's just take things slow" Ava says and chuckles trying to hide her bashfulness. "I know I'm sorry," he says again. "Don't be I mean, it doesn't mean I'm not open to the idea?" she admits in barely a whisper. "Umm well, what are you doing?" Ava asks as she pulls the blanket closer to her chest. "Nothin' just talking to you and I'm gonna go shower in a bit" he answers. "Oh," she says and pauses. "It's late though, how is your hair going to dry for bed?" she asks. "With a hair dryer" he recalls and chuckles. "Oh, yeah" she says and laughs. "Yeah, tell me from 1 to 10 how sleepy are you?" He speaks. " A solid 6" she admits. "Mmm" he says. "Why?". "Just asking". "Oh, I should let you shower" she says politely. Yeah hold on" he says and Ava heard muffling in the background. Like fabric being thrown and a door being opened. The sound of water filled her ears. "Give me 10 minutes, I wanna tuck you in for bed" he says before the sound of a curtain pulled open caught her attention. Jordan was entering the shower she thought to herself. The soothing sound of his voice filled her ears, he was singing in the shower. Ava say their in awe and in silence as her boyfriend cleansed himself while singing a song. The thought of Jordan's body under the shower made her shudder with unholy thoughts. But still Ava's cheeks flushed, and then she laughed when she heard Jordan cursing to himself for almost tripping. "Aww, shit" he mumbled. "You ok?"Ava asked as she smiled to herself. "Yeah hold on, I just need to find a towel" he said and her eyes widened. She the sound of Jordan walked out of the room and then return a minute later. "Okay I'm back" he says close to the phone. "How was your shower?" Ava asked. "Warm and very much needed" he answered. "That's good but Jordan I'm so sleepy" she speaks as she yawns again. "Mmm me too" he mumbles, as he had already brushed his teeth and got under the covers of his bed. "Let's go to sleep" he suggests. "Okay then goodnight," she says as she was about to hang up. "No no, stay on the phone with me" he whispers lovingly. "But I'm so close to falling asleep-" she says in a groggy voice. "I know baby, stay on the phone with me just a little bit longer please" he encourages. "Mmm okay" she accepts as she closes her eyes. "Sweet dreams baby" he says before eventually dozing off as Ava's soft breathing on the other line, lulls him to sleep.
