why dont you just promote NICELY
"please check out bob's book it's really good!!"
OR IDK ANYTHING THAT DOESNT INVOLVE VIOLENCE AND UNCIVILIZED BEHAVIOR AND LANGUAGE
but ok other than that
it's also VERY rude to promote your story on someone's message board or story

i mean there are places for you to properly promote your story like the forums for example or even your other story
but not other people's works bc thats just plain impolite since it's spam and it's not YOURS
it's another person's hard work
you dont just swoop in and be like "read my book!!!!! *insert link here*"
dO IT ON YOUR MESSAGE BOARD
DO IT ON YOUR OTHER WORKS
DO IT ON YOUR OTHER ACCOUNTS
HECK DO IT IN THE FORUMS
but never NEVER do it in another person's "property"
DONT FORCE THEM TO READ YOUR WORK/S EITHER
IF THEY DONT WANT TO READ IT THEN FINE
YOU CAN LIVE WITH THAT
YOU DONT HAVE TO START A FIGHT
YOU DONT HAVE TO BE FULL OF YOURSELF
YOU DONT HAVE TO BE RUDE
JUST SAY "thank you anyway! :)" AND MOVE ON
so yeah just be polite and mindful about promoting your stories
know where to do it
know how to do it
know that with or without reads it's something to be proud of bc YOU wrote it
