Plot:

In Japan, participation in extra-curricular activities is as fundamental a part of an education as chalk and gym shorts. However, not all students are overachievers, and for those like Yuki Ojima, groups like the Food Research Club are welcome havens in which to slack-off. But what's a slacker to do when the radical new candidate for Student Council president announces her intent to get rid of clubs like the FRC? Well, getting the help of the current Student Council president is a good start, but HIS suggestion is so counter-intuitive that it's crazy: Yuki should run for the Student Council himself? And yet, it's SO crazy that it just might work! Especially when Chisato, the chocolate-adverse president of the FRC (and Yuki's best childhood friend,) and members of other targeted school clubs start to join the swelling FRC army. But can this army of goofs and goof-offs coast all the way to political victory? Or will someone have to step up to the plate and take one for the team?

Opinion: This anime was great, it was amazing, it was completely phenomenal. Until the near end that is. So let's talk about that, here's my opinion of Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate.

Firstly, the plot. Even though this story was primarily a slice of life, it did have some interesting areas slipped in that made the show a thousand times more interesting. There was the whole drama inside the school security with the opposing factions. The discrimination of the financial aid students, and just a really dramatic election.

I will say plainly, I thought the factions of the school security was a bit stupid, and I wanted more development on the financial aid students. With my favorite character being one, I wanted more details regarding the issue, and wanted to see the protagonist do something about it first hand. Unfortunately that wasn't something I was gifted, as the anime cut off before such things could happen.

And the election? At first I thought it was completely stupid. The entire election and how it was presented seemed WAY too dramatic for what it really was. However as I got deeper into the anime and more things started happening, I found the ideas of the election to be enjoyable. Nevertheless, as the show neared it's end, I found the outcome of that very election to be preposterous completely impossible, and illogical. In case you don't know already, I HATE ENDINGS LIKE THESE!

I cannot stand when an ending is so forced that it defies logical and the legit outcomes. At the end, the protagonist had absolutely no chance of winning. His pole percentages dropped from like 70 to 20. There was no realistic way for him to win. But he did!

The plot armor is real! I would have found it much more enjoyable and realistic if he assumed the position of vice president under the finances administrator. But no, he wins. Because plot!
