Plot:

When Subaru Natsuki leaves the convenience store, the last thing he expects is to be wrenched from his everyday life and dropped into a fantasy world. Things aren't looking good for the bewildered teenager, however: not long after his arrival, he is attacked by some thugs; armed with only a bag of groceries and a now useless cell phone, he is quickly beaten to a pulp. Fortunately, a mysterious beauty named Satella, in hot pursuit after the one who stole her insignia, happens upon Subaru and saves him. In order to thank the honest and kindhearted girl, Subaru offers to help in her search, and later that night, he even finds the whereabouts of that which she seeks. But unbeknownst to them, a much darker force stalks the pair from the shadows, and just minutes after locating the insignia, Subaru and Satella are brutally murdered. However, Subaru immediately reawakens to a familiar scene-confronted by the same group of thugs, meeting Satella all over again-the enigma deepens as history inexplicably repeats itself.

Opinion: This has to be one of the most popular anime to air in a while, and I completely understand why! Allow me to break it down for you all.

First, possibly the most important part, we have our plot. I watch a lot of anime, I'm subject to a lot of different fictional worlds and stories. I'll admit, the majority of the anime I've seen are, to myself, good. By my own definition I think they and their plots are good. Moreover, I cannot stress enough how amazing this anime is. It's considered not only good by myself, rather a level above that. I consider Re:Zero to be great. I'd hold this series higher than the majority of anime I've seen. But I'm getting off track with my praise.

When I heard of its airing I was looking forward to it. I didn't know anything about the series, and it would be the first anime of the summer 2016 season I'd watch. I went in with a smile and high hopes, and what I got was something far more amazing than I expected. My expectations were blown away without a trace. So, the story?

I thought the plot was extremely well done, bringing a rather new and interesting perspective on time travel in anime. As the story progresses we are presented with all these conflicts. Conflicts that we can assume will be the center issue for the anime, that is until a larger problem sprouts. I personally thought the anime would be about Subaru helping Emilia win the throne. To me that seemed like the main goal for the characters. Nope!

With so many lives that Subaru lives, with so many layers of plot, the story becomes so thick and so captivating that you just can't look away. But not only that, this anime also has mild amounts of action, comedy and romance. It was a bundle of genres, and I find a lot of anime have Issues properly juggling so many, almost contradicting genres. It's hard to make a comedy anime when the characters are in a war. That type of issue. Nevertheless, I can only say that Re:Zero did a fine job juggling them all. Having fulfilled sufficient portions each tagged genre in its 24 episodes.
