Chapter Twenty-six

Start from the beginning

“Do you want to go back to the flat?” Gabby asked.

“We are not getting in my car in soaking wet clothes,” I protested.

“Then what are we going to do? We’ll be here all day if we have to wait for them to dry.”

“There’s a dryer down the hall we could use.”

“But we don’t have any other clothes to wear…”

“If it bothers you that much, there are towels in there too,” I smirked.

“Excuse me for not wanting to walk around naked in a place that obviously your friends come to and could possibly see me.”

“Good point. Come on; let’s go now before we are here all day.”

Gabby followed me through the men’s locker room and down the hallway to the laundry room. I’m pretty sure they only have it to wash and dry towels for guests, but I don’t think they’ll mind if we use it. If they do, well it’ll already be too late anyway.

I turned around to see Gabby standing there frozen like she didn’t know what to do. I picked up a towel from the stack next to me and handed it to her. She took it from me, but still did nothing.

“Do you want me to turn around?” I asked trying to figure out what was bothering her.

“Please,” she answered and I turned to face the wall.

I liked that she was shy and conservative sometimes. Many of the girls I’ve been with would strip down to nothing in five seconds flat. It was nice to have a change for once. Besides that, it was also reassuring to know that she wouldn’t just sleep with anyone at any given time, she wasn’t easy like the others, she was a challenge and I liked that.

Honestly, I can’t even compare her to the girl’s I’ve been with because they’re complete opposites and it’s just that simple. She’s nothing like my normal type of girl, but I liked that. That’s probably why Dave assigned me to protect her; he never thought I would fall for her, but man was he wrong.

The only reason I was even with the girls that were easy was because I didn’t have time for an actual relationship. They would want to know about my job or why I was protecting a certain girl and I wouldn’t be able to tell them. The whole thing is extremely confidential and I could be in big trouble if anyone knew that I let Gabby in on some of it.

There’s so much she doesn’t know about me and I hate that I can’t tell her. The only way for her to find out is if my past comes back to bite me in the ass. Some things I really want to tell her, other things I feel would be better to leave out.

“Okay,” she said signalling that I could turn around.

She handed me her clothes and I tossed them into the dryer.

“You can shower if you want. There are showers in the women’s locker room on the left side,” I informed her.
