To say Kiyoomi was exhausted, was an understatement.

His muscles ached, begging him to give himself a break from being so overworked.

He had stayed later to practice on some new combos, in reality he felt done for the day and wanted to go home, and be with you and your daughter.

You got Kiyoomi's message that he'd be late and to eat dinner without him.

You weren't expecting for him to stay so long.

"Momma, story time." Kanako pouts, holding up her favorite book that your husband would read to her almost every night that he could.

"Daddy's busy tonight, sweetheart, let me read you one." You softly smile and run your hand through her familiar curls.

Without much protest, she let you pick out a book and read to her, you yourself even got a bit sleepy while reading it.

You hadn't noticed, but she had already fallen asleep, dreaming of whatever it is that four year olds dream of.

The book in your hand suddenly became heavy, your eyelids felt like they were being weighed down by bricks.

Your head bobbed back up and down while reading, until it laid on top of your daughters, her arms finding themselves around you.

The book in your hand was long forgotten, close to the edge of the bed, ready to fall off at any second.

Kiyoomi sighs quietly as he opened the door, locking it behind him.

The faint smell of dinner filled his nose, he figured you'd be in the dining room, waiting for him so the two of you could go to bed together.

Instead he was met with the lights dimmed, and a plate of food, that wasn't warm anymore.

Dinner left his mind, he wanted to find you to apologize for coming later than normal, he didn't realize how late it really was.

He trudged up the stairs, still hearing nothing. Kanako's room was in his line of sight, from what he could see through the cracked door was a warm sight.

Kanako was snuggled up against you while you on the other hand were in a more uncomfortable position, the bed was small and your neck was bent weirdly.

Kiyoomi furrowed his brows as he looked at your sleeping form, discomfort was shown on your face, even as you slept.

He takes the book out of your hand, and places it back in the book shelf.

Next he had to wake you up and bring you back to your shared bed, he wasn't even hungry anymore, all he wanted was to fall asleep in your arms, slightly being jealous of his own daughter being snuggled with you.

He lightly shook your shoulder and you woke up on the first try.

"Let's get you to bed, love." He whispers.

Without hesitating you picked yourself up off your daughters bed and gave her a quick kiss on the forehead, pulling the covers up and shutting the door behind you.

"What time is it?" You grumble, rubbing your eye as you're being led to your shared bedroom.

"It's bedtime, I'm sorry for coming home later than I said." He apologized, taking a glance behind him to make sure you're not running into anything.

"It's okay." You yawn. "I know you've got an important game coming up."

"Still, I meant to leave earlier." He closed the bedroom door this time.

"Hurry up." You slowly blink, already in bed by the time the door shut, Kiyoomi felt a little bad he wouldn't be in bed with you yet.

"I haven't showered yet, I feel gross from practice." He says.

You groan.

"I know, I'll be quick." He says and hops into the shower before you could begin whining.

You tried to stay awake, you really did, but your heavy eyelids were taking a toll on you.

The bed was so comfortable, your pillow was cold, and you had just enough blankets covering you so you wouldn't be too hot nor too cold.

In a few minutes you were already drifting in and out of slumber.

By the time Kiyoomi got out of the shower, he noticed your steady breathing.

The lamp beside you was still on, he had already gotten settled in bed, he quietly reached over you, trying his best to not wake you to turn the light off.

He felt successful as the room went dark and he went back to his side.

"Omi?" You groggily say.

Now he feels terrible, he's had to wake you up twice since he got home, late too, he hasn't forgotten about that. The dinner you made for him was left downstairs as well.

"Shh, go back to sleep." He pulls you closer to him.

You inhale his scent, he used your body wash this time, the lavender smelled amazing.

"You used my soap." You giggle.

"Shush, it's bedtime." He clicks his tongue.

"You smell good." You wrap your arms around him, nuzzling your face into his chest.

"Goodnight." He concludes.

"G'night, I love you."

"I love you too." He whispers, inhaling your comforting scent, his nose just above your head.

Your steady breathing returned.

His eyes were starting to shut, his body relaxing into your arms, finally able to rest after a hard practice, only to return again tomorrow.

But he promises he'll make it up to you by leaving breakfast made for you and your daughter.
