Chapter 6: Namjoon's Family

Namjoon opens the door to Taehyung, who has an armful of plush toys and a bouquet of flowers. He drops the toys as he bends to greet Sung-hoon with a big hug and he reaches up to hand the flowers to Namjoon who laughs.

"Gee Thanks." He feigns a blush. Taehyung looks up as Sunghoon looks through the plush around him on the floor.

"They're for Sujin." He smiles as he grabs a few of the plush off the ground and steps inside. "Thank you for inviting me for lunch." He helps Sunghoon pick from the plush, holding up a bear and wiggling it's ears at him before the boy grabs it and runs off toward his mother who has just stepped out of the kitchen.

"Hello Taehyung, it's nice to see you again." She greets him warmly. "Are those for me?" Namjoon hands the flowers over to her. "They're lovely, I'll just get a vase to put them in. Lunch will be ready in a few minutes." Namjoon motions for Taehyung to follow him into the living room. He sits down on an overstuffed couch, and smiles up at Namjoon.

"So, I'm going to guess that Jungkook called you," he says raising an eyebrow at him. Namjoon smiles.

"Can't I invite you for lunch just because I want to have lunch with you?" He laughs. Taehyung shakes his head.

"Well considering I was just here for dinner three days ago, now I know Jungkook called you."

"Actually, he and Yoongi came by the studio after they had lunch with you yesterday. He's concerned for you yes, but that's only out of love." He sits across from Taehyung in his chair and leans forward.

"He doesn't need to be concerned. He's younger, and not thinking about marriage, but I am. He just doesn't understand that." He leans forward to be closer to Namjoon. "I want what you have. I'm ready." Namjoon shakes his head.

"That's because you only see the good parts of being a husband and father, but it's isn't all good times. There's a lot of stress and worry, and struggle. You give up a lot of yourself to be someone's husband and someone's dad. It's a lot of responsibility."

"I know that, I had the best dad in the world. I know how he struggled to do what was best for us, even sending us to my Grandparents to live. I do understand it isn't all fairytale. But I'm ready for this step in my life." He looks at him, very serious and makes sure Namjoon has heard his words. He nods.

"I do think you're ready. But the girl? You haven't ever settled down in a relationship. You always have these dreams of what it will be like and then they never measure up to the vision in your head. Your longest relationship was what? Six months?" Taehyung blushes under the weight of this truth.

"I know. I haven't made the right choices, but I wasn't ready for anything more. And now I am. It's that simple. My Grandmother use to tell me that people come into your life when you need them most, and when you are ready. You, Jimin, the group, came into my life at the right time. If I had met you a year earlier, I wouldn't have been ready to be a good partner, a good member. If I had met you two years later, I am sure I would have been on a different path altogether." Namjoon nods at his words knowing they're true.

"I believe that too. I met Sujin just after military, and after spending a year thinking about what it would mean to have a family. I guess I was ready. But, isn't there some other way to meet a girl than to see one on tv and just decide that's her?"

"I can't explain it properly. Jungkook thinks it's crazy, but when I saw her, I just knew. My heart jumped, I felt dizzy, all the things I think people would feel if they meet someone in person who they know they want to marry. I felt that." He looks down, wringing his hands a little nervously.

"But, what if she is already married, or has a boyfriend? I mean you don't know anything about her."

"I know what I need to know, for now. I am going to meet her tomorrow."

"Tomorrow? How?" His eyes grow wide.

"I asked Sejin to have someone from the company call to schedule a visit at the school. They need repairs and supplies and I have offered to be a benefactor." Namjoon thinks about this, biting his lip.

"So they know who you are already?" Taehyung shakes his head.

"No, when I called myself earlier, the woman who answered the phone, sounded like a much older woman, I doubt she has any idea who we are. I told her I would have my staff contact her to schedule an appointment. I hope that I can do whatever is needed to help the school, not just because I want to meet the teacher, Miss Wright, but because the children deserve to have this." Namjoon laughs.

"Her name is Miss Right?!" He covers his mouth to hide the broad smile.

"She's American I think, it's spelled differently. I know, that sounds too good to be true doesn't it?" He blushes a little at the thought.

"Just a bit." He shakes his head leaning back in the chair. "Well, maybe she is your Miss Right. Maybe fate brought her to you." Taehyung nods.

"That's exactly what I think. I'm really nervous about meeting her tomorrow. I want to make a good impression, and I don't want to seem too forward with her. I don't know if she will know who I am other than the person who wants to help."

"Maybe that's for the best. If she knows who you are, she might behave differently around you."

Sunghoon runs into the room still clinging to one of the plush gifts. He jumps onto his father's lap.

"Eomma said it's ready, and would you please come in to the dinning room," he says in a sweet little voice. Namjoon smiles down at him, and tweaks the tip of his nose causing the boy to giggle. He looks back up at Taehyung.

"Ok, let's go eat. And remember, it's tradition to name your first son after the leader of your group," he teases as he stands up with the boy.

"I don't think the world is ready for another Kim Namjoon," he jokes as he follows after him.
