July 27th, 6:45am: "I guess we have to stay overnight," Chris said in frustration, "I better tell my boss that I might be late." Chris got a pretty good job over the summer, one that there was a lot of competition for. In some ways, I felt that being late a day would affect him the most.

My parents ran off to find information on the next flight while the three of us waited hopefully. After about 15 minutes, my dad came back holding a clutter of papers.

"Food tickets," he said grimly, "We booked a flight for midnight today, which means that we have to spend most of the day here. We also got free lodging from the airport, but I doubt it'll be any good."

At first, I thought that the food tickets meant that you could get anything you wanted for free. In reality, they were just pieces of paper that only covered for three small meals of fifteen euros each; breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Fifteen dollars for each meal, forty five euros for each of us. Tired and upset, we decided to cash in a third of the ticket for breakfast.
