Never Expected (a Chandler Riggs/Grayson Riggs fanfic)

Welcome Back Party

"Kaden. Alice, how...how are you two alive?"
"We're not sure ourselves dad. Maybe God resurrected us."
"Well, if that's the case...thank you Jesus!"
"Daniel, who's at the door?" Mrs. Riggs asked.
"My...my kids are."
"Well, invite them in."
I moved aside and said, "please come in."
As they entered I started to close the door behind them. Once it was closed I turned to my kids and brought them in for a two minute hug.
"I'm glad you guys are back. I missed you two. Come on let's head into the living room, I want to introduce you to my adopted family. Since they took me in after I lost my parents."
"Lead the way." Kaden stated.
It didn't take us long to enter the living room, since it was just around the corner.
Once we were in the living room, everyone looked up at us.
"Everyone, these are my children, Kaden and Alice."
"They're beautiful children Daniel." Mrs. Riggs stated.
"Thank you. I'm not sure if you noticed, but they're twins."
"Oh yeah, they do look somewhat alike." Chandler implied.
"How old are they?" Mrs. Riggs wondered.
"We're eight years old." Alice replied.

30 minutes later...
After introducing my kids to my family and told them the story as to how Haley and I met, all the way up to after her death and up to where I dropped them off at their aunt's. We all got relaxed and put on the horror movie "Most Likely To Die."

~2 hours later...
The movie was over and it was quarter to 12:00 a.m. From the looks of it everyone was tired, Mr. and Mrs. Riggs headed down to their room, and Chandler and Grayson headed up to their bedroom, but Grayson stopped when he was halfway up the stairs.
"Are you coming Daniel?"
"Yeah, I'll be up in a bit. I just want to spend some more time with my kids."
"All right. Don't stay up too long, we head back to set tomorrow."
"Thanks for the heads up."
"No prob."
Grayson then proceeded up the stairs.
"So, you're heading back to The Walking Dead set tomorrow?" Kaden wondered.
"Yep."
"Can we come?" Kaden and Alice asked.
"I don't see why not, but it's not up to me to decide, I'd have to call and ask."
"I hope that they say yes." Kaden stated.
"I hope so too. And I was going to keep this a secret, but I'm going to be throwing you two a welcome back party."
"You don't have to do that dad." Alice implied.
"I know, but I want to. I just have one question...what would you two want for dinner?"
"KFC." Kaden and Alice answered.
"And we'd like the twenty piece bucket feast." Kaden declared.
"That's a lot of chicken. There's no way that we'll be able to that all in one night."
"We know dad."
"All right, we'll get the twenty piece bucket feast."
"Thanks dad. You're the best."
"You're welcome. Now it's time for bed."
"Where will we sleep?" Kaden questioned. In my bed. I'll sleep down here on the couch."
The three of us got up from the couch, headed upstairs, and entered Grayson's room. We walked up to my bed, being as quiet as possible. I pulled back the covers and watched as Alice got comfortable first and then watched as Kaden got comfortable. I tucked in my kids and kissed them both.
"Good night, my two little angels. I love you."
"We love too dad."

Morning
I still had my eyes closed, but I could tell that everyone else was awake.
"Hey sleepyhead, wake up!" Grayson yelled.
"Just five more minutes." I groaned.

Grayson's POV
I walked over to Daniel and started to tickle him. I could just hear him start to laugh.
"Are you going to wake up, or do I have to keep tickling you?"
"I'll...I'll get up."
I stopped tickling Daniel, smiled and said, "good."
I started to walk away, but then Daniel began to speak.
"Psych."
I walked back to Daniel and peered down at him.
"If you don't wake up right now, I will tickle you until you laugh so hard you'll piss your pants."
"Ok, ok. I'll get up, just give me five minutes."
I started to lightly tickle Daniel.
"Hey Daniel?"
"Yeah?"
"How ticklish are your feet?"
I noticed that right after I asked that question Daniel immediately got up from the couch.
"Your breakfast is in the microwave."
"Ok."
I just stayed where I was standing and watched as Daniel made his way to the kitchen. I followed closely behind him.
"Did you have a good sleep Daniel?"
"It was all right Grayson. What about you? How was your sleep?"
"About the same as yours. Your kids woke me up though."
"Good. You should thank them for being your alarm clock."
"Thank them?"
"Yeah. You're alarm didn't go off, so they decided to wake you up themselves."
"Actually, we shut off your alarm." Kaden implied.
"What? Why?"
"Why not?" Kaden replied.
