I raised my eyebrows at her, “Willow, what do you want?”
Willow scrunched her nose and sat down on the bed next to me. “Well, I can clearly see how appreciated I am by some people.” She said sarcastically and threw the phone in the air before catching it again.
“No seriously though, what’s up?” I asked.
“Hey, you remember that one Destiny’s Child song that I was obsessed with as a kid, ‘Survivor’?” she asked with a weird glint in her eyes.
Oh how can I forget that song. That was like our ANTHEM as little kids. Yeah, Destiny’s Child was the BEST!
“Yeah, but what does that have to do with anything, Willow?”
Willow smiled wide and jumped in the bed, throwing the phone in the air and catching it again. “WELL KAT BETTER BE SINGING THAT SONG ON HER WAY HERE BECAUSE SHE’S A SURVIVOR, GIRL!!” she screamed.
My eyes widened and I jumped up immediately. “WHAT, SHE MADE IT?!?!”
Willow nodded her head and wrapped her arm around me, pulling me close to her as she held the phone up in the air. “This calls for a Destiny’s Child moment.”
She paused for a second, and as if one cue, Rachael and Heather jumped into the room, holding their hair brushes to their mouths as if they were microphones.
Willow did the same with the phone in her hands and then her, Heather, and Rachael all burst out into ‘Survivor’. “IMA SURVIVOR, I’M NOT GON’ GIVE UP. I’M NOT GON’ STOP. I’M GON’ WORK HARDER. I’M A SURVIVOR, I’M GONNA MAKE IT. I WILL SURVIVE. KEEP ON SURVIVIN’!”
I laughed and jumped off the bed, running towards Heather and Rachael. I attacked them both with a hug, causing them to stumble back a bit. “Kat made it!”
“I know she did, we wouldn’t be making a fool of ourselves with our bad singing if she didn’t.” Rachael joked and hugged me back.
“Oh, GROUP HUG!” Willow exclaimed and ran up to the three of us, joining our huge hug.
Just then, I saw Tom in the corner of my eye, standing at the doorway, smiling like a little kid. He tapped Heather’s shoulder, causing her to turn around and face him. “Hey, I think there’s someone downstairs that’s looking for you all.”
We all instantly pulled away and screamed, “KAT!”
We all ran downstairs, nearly knocking each other over, and eventually made it to the front door, where our favorite Redhead stood with Max.
And she still had that smile on her face.
She walked inside and gasped before opening he arms wide and smiling even wider at us. “GIRLS!”
“KAT!!”
And just like that, we had yet another group hug.
“Oh my goodness, Kat, don’t ever scare me like that again.” Said Heather.
“Ditto. We could barely sleep at night!” Rachael added.
“KAT, DON’T EVER LEAVE ME AGAIN, WITHOUT YOU, I’M NOTHING!” Willow said a bit dramatically before laughing and hugged Kat tight. “But seriously, don’t ever do that again!”
Kat giggled as all of the girls pulled away. I stood there in front of her and shot her a smile before giving her a huge hug. “It’s great to have you back, Kat. I’m so sorry.”
“Don’t be sorry. It’s not your fault. I hope you weren’t blaming yourself for all this.”
I pulled away and looked at her. I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair. “Well, now I know that.”
