Chapter 48- I'm Here To Stay

Start from the beginning

Max looked like he was about to yell something else in the doctor’s face, but I quickly ran up to him and grabbed his shoulders, looking him in the eyes. “Max, he’s doing the best he can. Look, just calm down for one second and understand that there’s nothing you can do. I know Kat, and I know that she wouldn’t want you freaking out right now.”

Max sighed and shook his head. “Sorry.” He mumbled.

I nodded my head and turned around to face the doctor. “Thanks, doctor. For everything. Just please, please, trying the absolute best you can.”

The doctor smiled and put his glasses back on. “I promise.” He said and walked back into Kat’s room.

“Oh, Kat.” Rachael mumbled and snuggled up against Jay. He put his arm around her and tried to calm her down a bit, because I could tell that she was actually about to break down.

Heather got up from her chair and sat on Tom’s lap. She wrapped her arms around his neck and rested her head on his shoulder. “Better get comfortable TomTom, ‘cause we’re spending the night.”

Tom put his arm around Heather and kissed her forehead. “Alright. Good night, babe. Love you.”

“Love you too. Night.” Heather replied.

Oh gosh, they were too cute. They liked each other from the very beginning and could never be separated. As much as I loved my relationship with Nathan, I wished I had one like Heather and Tom. I don’t know what it is about them, but they are just so in love. And they were together from the beginning.

I sighed as I thought about my Nathan. Oh my poor baby was upstairs getting numerous stitched on his back. I wish I could go cuddle with him, but the doctors wouldn’t let me.

“I miss her, Jordan.” I heard Max whisper beside me, snapping me out of my thoughts.

“I know you do, Max. I can tell by just looking at you.” I replied.

Max put both hands in his pockets and started swaying back and forth. “I can’t stand seeing her like this. Do you know how painful it is to hear someone tell you that the one you love could possibly not make it?”

I swallowed hard and looked at Kat through the window on the wall. She looked so peaceful. There were doctors all around her, running about and trying their hardest to do something to make her open her eyes.

That heart monitor was the only thing keeping Max going, I could tell.

“Max, she’s my best friend. I’ve known her for like ever, and I love her to death. It hurts me to see her like this, but to be honest; I can’t imagine how you feel. I mean, you’re her boyfriend for crying out loud. I know that if that were Nathan in there right now, I would be broken.” I said.

“I know. And it is hard. But I guess everything happens for a reason. Right now I can only hope that she will be okay. But whatever happens is meant to happen.” Max’s voice cracked a little in the middle of his sentence. He looked up at the ceiling and looked like he was trying to blink back some of the tears building up in his eyes. “Oh gosh, I just need her to make it.”

I stroked his arm and gave him a small smile. “We all do.” I whispered. “Now, come on. Get a little rest. We’ve been here for like three hours.”

Max just looked through the window and shook his head. “No. I’m not sleeping. I’m staying right here until she wakes up.”

Like any normal person, I would have probably argued with him and told him that he needs his sleep, but I stopped myself when I remembered Nathan.

No matter how late it got, Nathan stayed by my side when I was in a coma. Everyone else left, but he stayed. He stayed because he cared about me too much to just risk seeing me as soon as I woke up.

And right now, I could tell how much Max wanted Kat to wake up, so I just left our conversation there. I understood exactly what he was feeling. And that is what pushed me in doing exactly what I was about to do. I turned around and started walking towards the stairs.

“Where are you going?” Max asked behind me.

I turned around and gave him a small smile. “I’m gonna go do exactly what you’re doing. I’m gonna stand by my love’s side until he’s okay. Because I know that I won’t rest until I know he’s gonna make it.”

Max smiled for the first time in hours and ran up to me, giving me a hug. “Thank you for understanding.” He whispered in my ear.

I hugged him back. “And thank you for caring so much about my best friend.”

So I wasn't gonna update because I lost a family member yesterday, so I wasn't feeling well. But then I just came up with an idea for a One Direction fanfic that I'll be right for fun and then decided to update this story because I wanted to give you guys something to read this weekend.

It is basically a filler chapter, but like I said, I'm not feeling so good. And I kinda want people to understand what Max and everyone else in the story are going through with Kat.

It hurts to lose someone you love whether it is a family member, friend, or lover. It really hurts.

But on a happy note, yes, I might do a One Direction fanfic if any of you guys would want to read it. And I might update again sometime this weekend on this story. And as always, thank you for reading my story (:
