(Legolas x Reader) Let Me Help You

Beginne am Anfang

The only thought that took over your mind when a large black body crawled over the ceiling above you, web trailing behind, was fear.

It's eyes didn't land on you but rather focused ahead when you heard it speak another tongue. Another voice followed.

There's two.

You needed to get to the secret passage. You couldn't fight them alone. You would need to alert the guard and then you could assist once you had your weapons.

No wonder no one had entered the library tonight. The doors would have appeared locked from the outside. In the halls of the Elven King, it would not have been questioned.

The spider was out of sight and it was time to move. You instantly sunk to the floor, moving on low ground to keep out of view. You only needed to reach the secret passage that lay at the other end of the row of shelves.

You ignored the discomfort of your small bump making contact with the floor as you kept low. The hissing conversations from the spiders bullied your sharp ears and you forced your self to speed up. The candlestick that opened the wall passage was in sight.

You looked up, the spiders were too busy creating hair web. Now was your chance. You quickly rose and darted for the candle stick. You were light enough on your feet that you couldn't be heard. Your hand reached out and you screamed the moment a large leg wrapped around your waist and hoisted you up into the air.

There was another spider.

You cursed yourself for missing it as it lifted you to its eyes, your feet losing contact with the ground as you reached the ceiling.

The creature hissed at you. You weren't going to survive this.

"Legolas!" You screamed. "Legolas!" You felt your pulse quicken. "Shit, someone help!"

Normally your dagger would be straight in the creature's eye. It seemed to survey you and you wriggled.

A sudden banging came from the library doors.
"(Y/n)!" Your breath escaped you, it was Legolas.

"Legolas!" You screeched. The spider tightening it's grip. "Spiders!"

It's large fanged mouth opened and you braced your self for the pain. Your heart sank when you thought of the life growing within you. You couldn't save them. You'd failed.

Another loud bang came from the door and your body tensed as you were drawn to the spider's fangs. Fangs...

Your teeth sank into the leg wrapped around you and you felt your body falling when the creature squealed in pain and lost its grip on your body. You braced your feet to land, stumbling slightly when you hit the ground but graceful enough to start running instantly. Your hand instinctively went to protect your bump.

The commotion only made the other two spiders turn their head to you. Their eyes filling with anger and hunger as they charged towards you.

Another bang came from the door.

"Legolas! I can't hold them off!" You shouted, storming your way back into the maze of bookshelves.

"I can't get the door open (Y/n)! God, it won't budge!" His voice was urgent and raw.

"The passageway. From my chambers!" You tried to keep your voice loud through heavy breaths as you edged away from the door. "Go through there!"

He hesitated and then you heard an enraged growl. "I'm coming to you, (Y/n)! Hide!"

What were the spiders even doing here?

How did they even infiltrate the palace?
You looked down to the hand that rested on your stomach. It's okay little one. We've lost them. You looked up to hear the soft thud of their thick legs. For now.

It seemed like hours passed as you stayed huddled by the bookshelf. You could hear them scuttling around above but they had not found you yet. You considered going back to the passageway but it was too much of a risk. You had two lives to protect now.

Rising, you quietly but quickly removed a series of books from the shelf behind you. You cringed at the subtle creak the plank of wood made as you pulled it from the shelf. Placing it under your foot, you pulled back the wood, breaking away the corners for the end to form into a point. It was makeshift and weak. But it was better than your bare hands.

You heard it then. The hiss of an arrow and the squeal of a spider.

Legolas.

You couldn't let him fight alone. They were too strong and there were too many. You picked up the plank and swerved between the book cases.

Legolas was there in the centre of the great library, his dagger slicing at the leg of a spider as another crept up behind, it's fangs bare. Your heart raced and you leapt from the desk beside it and plunged the wood into its back. It was yanked away from Legolas as it screamed. It flung you backwards, your body colliding with an Elven statue. You groaned.

"(Y/n)!" Legolas turned when he saw you. "Please, hide." He yelled.

"You can't fight them alone, Legolas. Where is the guard?" You said, your hand still over the wooden plank as you jabbed it into the leg of the spider again.

Where was the third one?

"They followed me in to the passage but it closed behind me. They couldn't get through." He was breathless, moving back from the spider to use and arrow and shoot it from afar.

"I didn't have time to mention that slight malfunction I'm afraid." You said as you moved back away from the spider. Before it could get to you, you slid under it, your body gliding on the marble floor, and plunged the stake into its heart from below. You covered your stomach again as you prepared for its body to collapse onto you. But it was quickly yanked away as Legolas pulled back it's leg before it fell, revealing a second dead spider behind it.

Legolas reached out his hand to help you, his eyes worried as he scanned your body. "Are you hurt?" He said shakily.

You accepted his aid and tried to catch your breath. "Legolas, there's one missing." Your head shot around the room. "There's another spid-"

A hard thud contacted your back and pinned you to the ground, the spider hovering above you, seething.

"(Y/n)!" Legolas roared.

You panicked, the breath taken from you. Your body ached. You hadn't realised just how hard your head had hit the ground. Now you could hear Legolas' blade ringing in your ears as the pressure was taken from your back. But it all faded away.

"(Y/n). (Y/n), please wake up."
Your eyes fluttered open and you groaned. Legolas' face formed, tears scaring his pristine features. His eyes searched you. "Thank the stars you're alive." He enveloped you quickly. You calmed in his arms. "I thought I'd lost you melanin." He breathed through small sniffles.

You looked over his shoulder, seeing the library and the dead spiders that now covered the floor.

Legolas pulled you back and kissed your forehead. You gazed at him not sure what to say. "You're alright? You're not hurt?" You asked.

He shook his head. "I'm unharmed, I promise." His eyes shot to your stomach and you felt your heart sink. You glanced down, placing a hand over. You both sat in silence waiting for something, anything.

Your breathing was the only thing you could hear.

A sudden kick hit your palm and you let out a gasp of relief, letting tears of gratitude stream down your face. "They kicked." You sighed. Your watery eyes shot to Legolas'. "They're okay."

The relief that washed over his face was like a tidal wave, it completely cleared his features as he moved to envelop you again. "Thank the stars." He breathed.

A small laugh escaped your lips. You were both alive, and so was your little elfling. What an adventure they had endured before even reaching this world.
