I thought I would do a cute little Christmas one for you guys. It was a lot longer than I intended but I really found it comforting writing this. Hope you enjoy, and it maybe makes you feel a little more festive 🤍

(Imagine introducing Aragorn to human Christmas traditions, only to spend the evening entranced in them, together)

You strode into the room you shared with Aragorn, a big smile on your face. The sudden shift to a more chilling, frosty air seemed to give you more energy than you had ever had before. Opening the door, you came to find your partner tying up the last lace on his leather boot. He looked up with a smile when he saw you. Before he could speak, you let your grin grown even wider.

"Thank you!" You beamed.

He looked at you confused for a moment. As he rose up and straightened, realisation dawned on his face and his smile returned. "I am glad you like it."

"Like it? Aragorn I love it!" You walked up to him and enveloped him, he held you to his chest. "I haven't had a Christmas Tree for so long." You said softly.

And you hadn't. Before you had even met Aragorn, you were staying with the elves of Mirkwood. You were half elf, half human after all.

You had met Legolas on his quest to Erebor when you were visiting Lake town on your travels. He had invited you to stay in Mirkwood to meet the other half of the race that you belonged to, awe struck to meet someone like you. Before that, the humans were your home and Christmas had been you most favourite time of the year no matter what village you were staying in at the time.

As soon as you joined Legolas to meet Strider and then assisted in the destruction of the ring, Christmas was long gone from your mind, as were any of the traditions that had kept you comfort. But it did not bother you once you had grown close to Aragorn. You found a new comfort in something that was so much more.

Now that Aragorn was King, peace was restored and you had been proposed to only months ago, you wanted to bring some familiarity back into your life.

Pulling back from the hug, you looked at him. "Will you help me decorate it?"

He hesitated for a moment and then looked at you guiltily. "I'm not sure I know how. I had never seen ones in the halls of Rivendell."

Smiling gently, you placed a hand out to him. "Come, I will show you. We can do it together." He took your hand and you walked to the great hall.

The stair case was wrapped in green foliage and the glorious pine tree that stood proudly at the back, the arched windows behind it allowing a magical view to the small flakes of white snow.

"I can't believe you went to all this trouble to get it here for me." You breathed.

Aragon took your chin and lifted your gaze to his, the beautiful festive background continuing on behind you both. "It was no trouble, my love. I wanted you to have something special, for once. Especially after all of the trials you have faced."

You took his hand and leant in when he placed it on your cheek. "You are enough for me Aragorn. Always." Your gaze flickered back at the tree and you bit your lip. "Although I am so guiltily in love with that tree."

He let out a soft chuckle and placed a gentle kiss on you lips. "Let us make it even more magnificent."

The evening was blissful. The maids had happily brought you decorations and you took a moment to ask them all of their opinions on what colours would suit best. Aragorn had watched you with such love as you beamed with joy at their suggestions and excitement, all while he trimmed a few stray branches off of the tree.

The maids left you with your trimmings after lighting the fire in the great hall to keep the winter chill away. You went to help Aragorn trim the last few branches. Noticing one was a little too high up, you easily jumped onto the ledge of the window, leaning forward to chop it down. Aragorn looked up to you from below, a look of amusement on his face.

"Sometimes I forget of your elven heritage, (Y/n)." He chuckled.

You gave him a teasing smile. "Don't tell Legolas that. He'll be very upset. After all his hard work trying to teach me the elven ways."

"And yet here we are." He chuckled. You laughed at that.

You liked elven traditions but something about the human ones were just so much more joyful while being so much more simple.

You both spent the rest of the evening twirling around the branches, pinning up acorns and forest foliage onto the tree, the fire crackling sweetly in the distance. Something about time seemed to still while you and Aragorn focused all of your attention on making the tree radiant.

The next time you looked out of the window, you saw the snow was still falling, but the lighter sky had darkened and the moon hung down to worship the night.

"Aragorn." You whispered from the other window arch that you had earlier jumped to as he pulled his attention away from the acorn that he was moving from one branch to another. Your gaze fleeted beyond the window. "Night has fallen. I had not even noticed."

He looked up at you to see the moon as if it had been painted on some large starry canvas. "Nor had I." He breathed.

"Is it not beautiful?" You breathed.

"It is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen." You turned your gaze back round with a soft smile, only to see that he was staring at you and not beyond the glass.

You caught your self blushing slightly and jumped down to him embracing him once more. "Thank you again, for this. It means a lot to me Aragorn."

He brushed his hand through the soft strands of your hair. You could feel he was about to speak but he did not say anything. You looked up at him to see him awe struck, staring beyond you. You were questioning asking him what was the matter but instead you turned only to see the tree in its full glory. You both had not stood back yet to glimpse the entire beauty of the tree, rather staying at on side, decorating as you went around.

"It is wonderful!" You said, a large grin on your face.

"It is magnificent." Aragorn replied. You let out a soft chuckle.

"Have I converted you to my human ways?" You asked, a mischievous glint in your eyes as you looked up at him.

Before you knew it, he had held you again, placing a gentle kiss to your lips. "You certainly have."
