The Nano-Gauntlet

Start from the beginning

{Later}

Joined by Rocket, Bruce, and Louis, the four of you took the day to assemble the nano-gauntlet.

You move your hands to control the metal prods within the casing that houses the stones. You simultaneously insert the stones into the gauntlet, carefully and slowly. Once finished, Rocket suddenly yells.

Rocket: Boom!

The three of you are startled. Rocket laughs after seeing the reaction.

Rocket: I'm sorry. I had to.

Louis shakes his head.

Louis: God damn trash panda.

Rocket: Uh, what did you call me?

Louis: A trash panda.

Rocket: Don't get me started, mop head.

Bruce: Hey, hey, hey. Let's settle down. We got the gauntlet assembled, we should mark this as a team win.

The two grumble and look away from each other. You continue to sit back on the chair and take a breath.

You: It's done. We did it.

Louis: Job's not finished. All that's left is...bringing everybody back.

You nod and continue to look on at the gauntlet within the case.

You: We did good today. We'll call everybody back tomorrow. We deserve the rest.

Bruce nods and walks out of the lab with Rocket. Louis is about to leave, but stops by the door and sees you still in your seat.

Louis: So we deserve the rest and not you?

You shrug.

You: I gotta look over some things.

Louis nods and crosses his arms. He recalls their trip to 1987.

Louis: I saw my dad too.

You: Really?

Louis: Yeah. I guess he was a part of S.H.I.E.L.D as well. Worked with Hank Pym.

You: Doesn't come as a shock. He had a great mind, and they surely needed it.

Louis: It's just nice knowing most of his life was spent doing good. It dilutes the fact that he was a murderer in a Goblin costume for the end part of it, you know?

You sigh, remembering his final moments before dying. Even during his last breath, Norman thought of his son and regretted his choices.

You: That's what matters. He made a mistake taking the formula, but everything before that...

Louis listens.

You: ...working at S.H.I.E.L.D, forming Oscorp, raising you...those are his greatest achievements.

Louis smiles, appreciating your words.

Louis: The world is lucky to have a guy like you, Y/N. And I'm lucky to have had you as my friend for the last 20 plus years.

You smile back as Louis bids farewell.

Louis: Good night.

He exits the lab, leaving you in the room. You continue looking at the gauntlet.

As you examine it, you remember what happened five years ago. How Thanos wielded all six stones, the chaos it caused.

You also remember how Steve told you that the stones nearly killed Thanos after using them twice.
