I shot up out of bed. I looked over at the clock and it read 2:27am. I wiped my hand across my forehead to get off the sweat that I was covered with. My heart was beating fast and I was breathing heavily. All at once all the memories came back and flooded my brain, on top of another nightmare:
"Chloe? Baby, what's wrong?" Barry asked me.
"It's nothing, it's fine. I'm okay," I lied. I really wanted to tell him about the nightmares and the memories but I couldn't do it. Every time I tried, nothing came out but tears.
"I know somethings up, tell me." I proceeded to tell Barry everything. With every word, more tears built up and at one point I had to stop and look away. When I looked back at him, he had a look of concern and I could barely see his dark eyes because they were glassed over.
Barry pulled me into his lap and held me close. He stroked my hair and I melted to his touch. I felt safe with him and I was finally calming down. I wrapped my arms around his neck as he whispered reassuring words to me.
I could hear his heartbeat getting faster and I could hear the shakiness and worry in his voice:
"It's okay," he assured. "It will be okay."
