Neethu's POV
My Parents were busy with phones as the function was arranged within a day. I can't blame them because it is my fate that ruined everything. What will I do now? Neither my mom nor my dad was free to hear my opinion about my marriage now. Yes, it is my mistake because I didn't convey it before when my parents asked. Now, they itself came to the conclusion. I was sitting in the edge of the bed often looking at my mobile expecting Rithick's call. The clock's ticking sound was clearly audible that makes my heart pounding faster. The only weapon that is to fight with my emotions and feelings are my tears and often it is wetting my chin.
My sister opened the door unexpectedly. I wiped off my tears in all of a sudden. She was sitting beside me in the bed.
"Akka, Mom asked you to get ready for shopping," she said slowly.
"I feel exhausted and I am not coming," I said blankly .
"Akka, I can understand you but I am helpless akka. I am sorry Akka. We can't do anything now so better accept the life what you have," she talk elderly.
She is correct but I can't accept it because Rithick and his love means lot to me and I can't imagine my life without him.
I didn't reply.
"Akka, do you want to see your pair photo," she talks casually but it irritated me .
"Nope! Will you please leave me alone?" I shouted out of my lungs for the first time.
She looked at me strangely and left the place understanding my situation.
I hugged my knees and cried as much as I can. Then, I took my phone and called Rithick again. His phone was switched off. I have decided to call Rahul and I called him.
Luckily, he attended my call. I feel relaxed at that moment.
"Rahul, Ask Rithick to call me at the moment he reached home. I tried many times but his phone was switched off,"
"OK sure Neethu. Did anything serious there?"
"Rahul, marriage.....fixxxxed..." I sobbed. I said to him that happened today and I can't even take a single step regarding it. He said not to worry about anything and hanged the call immediately as he was busy with his family shopping.
I realised my mistake now, I am responsible for my situation. I can't blame anyone right now. I should convince my parents before itself but I was too late or atleast I should make them understand strongly that I am not interested in marriage. I was helpless now.
I laid in the bed with closed eyes . My mom opened the door. I pretended like sleeping and she thought that I was sleeping. After few minutes later they went for shopping.
I was walking here and there like a mad person. I stood in the balcony for few minutes with mixed thoughts. I heard my phone ringing, I rushed to the phone. My eyes showered happy tears at the moment when the phone screen flashes Rithick's name. I picked up the call immediately.
"Rithickkk.." I called his name with lots of love from my heart and tears in my eyes.
"Sorry Neethu, my phone is switched off. I know you may have tried for many times,"
"Yes Rithick. It is something important," I said seriously.
"What?" He asked casually. No seriousness in his tone.
"My parents have arranged an engagement function for me on tomorrow. I was hell shocked and don't know what to do. Please, stop it Rithick," I sobbed.
"Really? What is going on? Anyways congratulations," he said casually again. I didn't recognize any seriousness in him. As he was a boy he couldn't understand my feelings now. Also, he was always casual in this matter but I was very much serious in this because it includes my family's self respect too. I know he was just playing with me but I can't accept it in this situation. Really I got very much anger.
Again he added, "Neethu, why are you silent?"
"Nothing," I replied angrily.
"Then OK. Be cool Neethu. How can I give you to someone?" He said lovingly but it is not the time to talk like this. It is a time for action.
"Rithick, please do something and stop it. I am helpless now," I sobbed.
"Think practically Neethu. I can't do anything now.....," I feel depressed to hear his words. I have ended the call and turned off my phone at once.
I went to washroom and refreshed myself. Again, I felt the same. Random thoughts occupied me and finally I came up with a solution though it was a decision taken by coward. Yes! I am a coward. I miss all the chances at first and now I am begging for a chance that I couldn't change tomorrow. Anyways, I can't accept anyone in my life either I should live with Rithick or to lose my life. I don't want to live without Rithick and now I am feeling better than before.
At night, my family members reached home from shopping. They bought ready-made dresses as there is no time for stitching etc. They showed it me and I gave my fake replies and smile as I don't want to hurt them. Later, I excused myself from them and came to bed. After several trials, sleep hugged my eyes.
The next day morning
Suddenly, I jumped out of my bed realizing the function. My mom entered the room and she asked me to take bath. I obeyed her and took hot shower. I stabbed my emotions and feelings pinned inside me. My mom gave me the Saree to wear. I wore the Saree and my sister did a little make up for me. I didn't show any objections.
"Akka, you are looking so beautiful. Advance happy wedding akka" she said happily.
I nodded simply.
My mom helped me in wearing jewels and now I was ready. Few of our relatives reached our home. Everywhere in home there filled with joy and happiness. I pretended to gave my fake smile to everyone.
"Akka, Aren't you interested in seeing your pair photo? See the photo akka," she took the photo and gave it me. I threw the photo in the bed angrily. My sister didn't show any reaction and I felt sorry for hurting her. I peeped out through the nearby window, my parents where happily inviting the guest. I looked at them for a while and sat in the bed. I searched for my phone remembering that I turned off my phone last night.
Meanwhile, two car came with full speed and stopped in front of my house. Everyone was excited and hopefully it was groom and his parents. My parents arranged for traditional rituals to welcome them. My heart was pounding faster and I couldn't accept anything. I stood casually and I was expecting for some miracles to happen atleast in last moment. God, please help me with some miracles. I was begging infront of my God with last hope.
After sometimes later,
My mom gave tea cup tracks to me and ask me to give to groom and his family. I hide tears deep inside my eyes and bowed my head down and reached the living room. The only thing that running in my mind was Rithick. I can't accept anyone except him. I will kill myself if it happens. With a fake smile I gave coffee to everyone without looking at them.
Then I walked towards my sister.
"Akka! How is the groom?"
I stood without replying.
"We are very happy to have our Neethu for our Rithick," said a familiar male voice. I looked up and gazed at everyone shockingly. It was my Rithick and his family. I jumped out of happiness. I can't express in words. Then, I gazed at my parents and sister. They were smiling at me. What a day it was!! Is it a miracle or dream? Lots of happiness mixed emotions took me to heaven. I stood looking at Rithick and we shared our smile.
"When did it happen? What a surprise?" I communicated via my eyes.
