Everyone knew that relationships weren't easy, they weren't simple, they weren't a walk in a park with daisies all around.

They were difficult, they required work, they required communication and yet for you and your boyfriend if you could even call him that seemed to lack communication.

You'd known Charlie for years, worked alongside him at the reserve, saved his arse more times than you cared to admit and yet every single time it came down to admitting what the two of you were he had issues.

Yes, you'd been friends for years but one night when you were camped out to watch a dragon hatch its babies that had all changed.

Charlie claimed he'd seen you in a different light, had done for months but never knew how to tell you.

As adults do, you'd slept together that night and had done many times since over the next few months.

It was no secret that Charlie hadn't had his fair share of relationships, favouring the friends with benefits lifestyle or even the odd one-night stand but he'd claimed things were different with you.

Different in terms of what? You always wondered. He treated you like his girlfriend, always wanting you to stay in his cabin rather than your own, slowly hoarding your things so that they were more at his than your own place.

You'd finally snapped when you heard Charlie floo calling his brother Bill.

"You'll be home this weekend yeah?" you heard Bill ask him. "You know Mum wants you there for Victoire's birthday, she's insisted on making it a whole extended family thing."

You heard Charlie sigh. "Yeah, I'll be there, couldn't miss my little niece's birthday, now could I?"

"Are you bringing anyone? Mum's been nagging to know if you're with anyone yet, and Fred and George have a bet going that you'll bring someone."

This was the moment you'd been waiting for, maybe if Charlie took you home, he'd be pushed to admit that you were more than just friends.

Charlie had told you all about his family and of course you wanted to meet them but broaching the subject with Charlie had never been easy.

"Uh probably not no," your heart dropped at Charlie's words. "I've not got anyone serious up here yet Bill, don't want to scare them off if I do bring them home."

Bill chuckled and you heard him say goodbye to his brother.

Charlie got up from his place by the hearth and then he noticed you stood by the stairs, having an open plan layout of his cabin meant it was all basically one room.

"No one serious huh?" you questioned, the tone of your voice betraying you when you didn't want to sound upset.

Charlie sighed, reaching out for you. "It's not like that love."

"Then what is it like?" you asked him again, backing away and wanting an actual answer from him.

"I didn't think you wanted to come home with me," he answered.

You shook your head, getting increasingly more upset and annoyed by the minute. "Don't you dare make it seem as if I am the issue here Charlie Weasley!" you fumed at him. "We are not just friends and you fucking know it and yet every damn chance you get you make it seem like we are! Telling people there's no-one serious in your life, fucking joke."

Charlie grimaced at your words. "I've never said we were just friends love."

"But you never told anyone we weren't either!" you had gotten to the point of yelling now. "I am sick and tired of being treated like I'm not important enough."

The hurt was evident on Charlie's face as he reached out for you. You let him pull you into your arms and you punched against his chest, knowing it wouldn't really hurt him.

"Why do you have to make me fucking fall for you," you whispered into his shirt as your anger faded away. "To just hurt me anyway."

You tried not to care when tears started to fall down your cheeks, but Charlie clearly did as he pulled your head up to look into your eyes.

"You need to be straight with me Charlie, you either want this or you don't and if you don't fine but you're an absolute arsehole for treating me like this if you do."

"I'm so sorry love," he whispered as he wiped the tears away from your cheeks. "I never considered that you would even want to come home with me, if you didn't know my family is pretty mad," he joked, and his laugh made you laugh. "And as soon as you're introduced to them you can't get away and I didn't want to take your option away from you."

You stayed silent, knowing he still had more to say.

He took a deep breath all the while rubbing the pad of his thumb against your cheek. "I want to be yours, fuck I have been since that night in the tent, but I never knew how to put it into words love," you could tell he was being sincere. "I never wanted to hurt you love, you have to know that and I'm so sorry I've made you feel the way you do."

Sighing you wrapped your hand around his wrist, pulling his hand away from your cheek but wrapping it around your waist instead. "You need to work on your damn communication Weasley," you grumbled as you hugged him.

He chuckled as he pressed a kiss to the top of your head. "Anything for you love, anything for you," he whispered against your hair. "I better go and call Bill to tell him I'm bringing someone home."

You laughed, looking up at him. "Yes, you better, tell him you're a dumbass that was too smart to realise what he had in front of him."

Charlie nodded as he stared into your eyes, leaning down to kiss you with a whispered promise of what he'd do after his floo call.

"Go," you laughed with flaming cheeks as you pushed him towards his floo. "I'll be waiting upstairs for you to follow through Weasley."

He laughed to himself as he watched your backside going up the stairs, shaking his head at being so stupid and vowing to himself that he'd hold onto you, for as long as you let him.
