How did you discover Wattpad?

Although I just recently made an account, I discovered Wattpad a while ago. If I remember correctly, someone had mentioned it in the description of one of their YouTube videos (very random, I know), so I decided to check it out.

How long have you had Wattpad, and how often do you use it?

I joined Wattpad on October 6, 2014, so I’ve been on for almost two months now. And I’m pretty sure I’ve gone on Wattpad everyday since October 6th.

Is there a meaning behind your username?

J.A.Y.A. is the acronym for the name of my blog (http://jbkantt.blogspot.com/), while 10 and 14 are the years I graduated from high school and college respectively. Hence, JAYA1014 was born. :)

Why did you start writing? What age did you discover your love for it?

I started writing almost three and a half years ago, towards the end of my freshman year of college. It was then that eighteen-year-old me discovered just how much I loved it!

Who are you favourite authors? What are your favourite books? (Books on Wattpad count too!) What is your favourite genre?

My favorite authors are David Klass, J.K. Rowling, Suzanne Collins, and Harper Lee. My favorites books are To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee and You Don’t Know Me by David Klass. My favorite genres are fantasy, paranormal, dystopian, and young adult.

Do you want a career in writing?

Yes. I would love to have a career in writing.

Who supports you the most in your writing?

My readers are the ones that support my writing the most.

Choose one of your books:

What is your book called? What genre is it? What is it about (2/3 lines)?

One of my books is called The Suit War. It’s a fantasy novel. The Suit War is about a girl who lives in a world based off a playing card hierarchy. Due to the fact that she was born as the Ace of Hearts, she is looked down upon by society. But when she discovers the possibility for her and the other three aces to put a stop to the war that’s going on between the four card suits, she decides to go for it (even if that means putting all of their lives on the line).

What inspired you to write it?

Alice in Wonderland definitely was a loose inspiration for the card theme, but other than that it was just a wild idea that I came up with one day. You’d be surprised by the crazy ideas that float around in my mind, haha.

How often do you update? When was it last updated?

With The Suit War, I tried to update once a week, sometimes more. The last time I updated was on December 1, 2014, so a few days ago. I am proud to say that The Suit War is complete. :)

And in general, I try not to go more than two or three weeks without updating.

How long are your chapters? Do you think short or long chapters are better?

My chapters vary in length. On average they’re anywhere from 2,000 to 5,000 words. I don’t necessarily think one or the other is better; it honestly depends on the book.

Are you proud of how well your book has done? Are you happy with the amount of reads it has?

I am proud of how well my book has done, and I’m happy with the amount of reads it has. With that being said, I would love to share my book with even more people as time goes on. :)

Do you have any advice for new authors?

Write, write, and write some more! As I like to say, in the world of writing, practice makes better; so the more you write, the better you write.

And if you have dreams of becoming a published author one day, don’t give up! I had days when I wondered why I continued to put myself through rejection after rejection. But it really does only take one “yes” (and I only received my “yes” a few weeks ago). :)

This author is absolutely amazing. I love their books, especially X's and O's which I definitely recommend to everyone and anyone. The Suit War has the most amazing story line and I love their style of writing. After reading their blog as well, I am so proud that they have got a publishing deal as their books are so amazing. Please go and check them out as I thoroughly recommend them.
