How did you discover Wattpad?

I used a mobile app called PocketWriters and someone on the forums directed me here.

How long have you had Wattpad, and how often do you use it?

Since January 2014, and I use it daily.

Is there a meaning behind your username?

My brother's call me Smurf (have since I was a little girl), so I just mixed Smurf with my name (Murielle).

Why did you start writing? What age did you discover your love for it?

I've always been making up stories even before I could write. I started writing my first novel at age 7 and finished it around age 10.

Who are you favourite authors? What are your favourite books? (Books on Wattpad count too!) What is your favourite genre?

Becca Fitzpatrick (HUSH, HUSH), Charlaine Harris (SOOKIE STACKHOUSE NOVELS), Stephen King (ALL OF THEM), W.M Young (THE SHACK), etc. I love Mystery novels, as well as paranormal.

Do you want a career in writing?

Striving towards it every single day. I hope to go to university to pursue creative writing, but I haven't settled on when and where.

Who supports you the most in your writing?

My boyfriend Josh. He always reads the latest chapters and gives me his honest opinion. He's my most loyal fan.

Choose one of your books:

What is your book called? What genre is it? What is it about (2/3 lines)?

Deerborn, it's a mystery/thriller with paranormal. It's about a young woman who finds herself in the midst of a murder mystery that has taken place in her sleepy hometown, how she realizes there are deeper secrets behind the faces of the townsfolk.

What inspired you to write it?

I wanted to write a short-story about my mother's hometown, and then it just took off from there.

How often do you update? When was it last updated?

I try to update 1-2 times a week, sometimes it can exceed that though. It depends on my work schedule. I haven't uploaded in about a week and a half due to getting a new puppy and also being extremely sick. Hoping to have a new update within the next few days.

How long are your chapters? Do you think short or long chapters are better?

My chapters range anywhere from 3-6 pages. It all depends on the content and how long it needs to go on for. I don't have a specific preference for chapters, although I do enjoy hearty reads.

Are you proud of how well your book has done? Are you happy with the amount of reads it has?

Absolutely. The first Deerborn book has over 21,000 views and the second one is approaching 2,000. I can't wait to see what becomes of it in the future.

Do you have any advice for new authors?

Write. Write. Write. It doesn't matter what you're writing, so long as you're scribbling something down. You won't grow in your writing unless you experiment with it, trying different styles and pushing yourself to different levels. It's all about breaking through those "comfort zones" that we as writers set up for ourselves.

I really like her plans and style of writing, and her book Deerborn is absolutely amazing! Her books are very well written and it is no surprise that they are ranking highly. If you love paranormal and horror books, or even if you've never tried them, check them out because they are super!!
