(EVERYONE LIVES, Let's say no one got hurt in that fire, K?)

I burst through the Curtis' door

"Who's ready for the rumble" I shout as I run towards Soda and Steve, only to run into Darry who blocked my path.

He puts his hands on my arms to keep keep me from falling backwards

"Hey" I say glaring up at him

"Y/n what are you doing here?" He asks looking down at me

"Uh waiting to go to the rumble duh" I say, moving out of his grasp and plopping down on the couch.

"Who said you were going?"

"Me, obviously"

"Well you aren't"

"Yes I am"

"No, You are not"

"Yes. I. Am." I say pausing between every word

"No. You. Aren't." He says pausing exactly like I did.

I look at my watch

"You oughta realize that I don't care what people tell me what to do, I just do what I want."

"A rumble isn't a place for a girl."

I look up at him, glaring.

"Listen" I say standing up "You either become ok with me going or you stay upset. Just know either way, I'm going."

"I don't want you getting hurt."

I roll my eyes

"Pain is just a figment of a person's imagination" I say

He looks at me

"You burnt yourself while cooking bacon the other day and thought you were gonna have to lose your hand"
He says, crossing his arms.

I roll my eyes "I'm sorry have you never been popped by bacon grease?" I ask rhetorically "That stuff hurts"

I look at my watch, seeing it was time to head to the location where the rumble was being held, I brush past him and walked towards the door.

"I'm going to the rumble"

With that I walk out the door, Soda, Steve and Two-bit following close behind me.

Pony and Johnny stays behind with Darry.

When we reach the place where the
rumble is, we line up.

Since I'm standing more towards the middle Darry comes and stands beside me, on my right.

"Stay close" He whispers looking at me.

I look at him and nod, then look to my left and see Pony standing beside me.

"Hey be careful" I say putting a hand on his arm. "Don't want you getting hurt"

"You're starting sound like Darry"

"Well he has a point, you did lose a lot of wait hiding out."

"I'll be fine. I promise"

"Good" I smile at him

I look down the line, the greasers line then the socs' line.

I noticed Dally wasn't there.

Odd.... A rumble ain't a rumble without him.

Darry steps up and so does one of the socs.

I remember him, he played football with Darry when they were in high-school.

They talk for a few minutes.

All of a sudden a voice says
"Don't ya'll know it ain't a rumble without me?"
