The bell above the DX door dinged as it was opened, signaling to Sodapop who was leaning over the counter reading a magazine that someone had entered the shop.

He glanced up briefly, greeting them but not paying much attention to whoever it was that had walked in, the lack of conversation signaling that it probably wasn't a regular, just someone on their way through town.

Soda went back to flipping through his magazine until the thud  of a coke bottle sounded in front of him. He typed in the amount for the soda, "Anything else?"

"Yeah this please?" The voice belonged to a young woman, and she tossed a pack of gum onto the counter.

Soda immediately looked up, he noticed her features forgetting to speak as he searched her face. She cleared her throat, smiling softly at him.

"Sorry- I- yeah, yeah twenty cents."

She handed him a quarter, "Keep the change." She said before grabbing her coke and gum, walking towards the door.

Soda bit the inside of his lip, looking towards her before taking a deep breath. "Soda- I...my name, I'm-"
"No...I have my soda right here." The young woman lifted the bottle, chuckling quietly.

"No, actually I meant to say I'm Soda...Sodapop Curtis"

She laughed quietly, turning around to face him. "Well Sodapop Curtis, I'm Y/n. Y/n Y/l/n."

"Nice to meet you, you just driving through? I don't recognize you."

Y/n shook her head, walking back towards Soda as her lips turned up in a soft smile. "No, I just moved here. I needed a break from unpacking."

"Oh really?" His brows raised in surprise. "Well, I've lived here my entire life, y'know if you want someone to maybe show you around."

"I'd like that, a lot."

"Do you maybe wanna grab a bite to eat and catch a movie at the drive in? y'know, just to show you some of the local sights." Soda shrugged, smiling slightly.

"I don't know that my boyfriend would appreciate that."

"Oh...you have a boyfriend?" Soda frowned

"No," Y/n shook her head, laughing quietly. "I don't. I just don't want to seem desperate."

Soda laughed, sounding nearly relieved as he looked down. "Oh, okay okay I see." He looked back at Y/n, looking into her eyes. "So..."

"So I would enjoy that," Y/n grabbed a piece of receipt paper that was laying on the counter, picking up a pen before scribbling her address. "Here."

"I'll pick you up around six?"

"Perfect," She said, smiling. "I'll see you at six, Sodapop Curtis."

She sent a playful wink in his direction before leaving the DX station, starting back on her way to the house to clean up for her outing with Soda, eager for the evening, feeling like for once the move might've been a good thing.
