I blew it.
I completely messed up.
Not only did I fail to establish dominance over the human, now it seems like he actually has the upper hand.

He may act kind and concerned, but I know better.
No matter how hard he may try to act like a civilized creature, I know that deep down inside he is only a savage animal.
A predator, ready to strike...and now I have become his prey.

I must not let my guard down...but I cannot let him know what I am thinking, otherwise...I dread even thinking about what he might do to me.

"Hey, Nym? You there?" he calls out to me, but I fail to react.
Despite me knowing that I am the only person he could be addressing, it doesn't feel like he is talking to me.
He repeats the call, snapping his fingers right in front of my face, leaving no doubt that he is, in fact, addressing me.
That's right...'Nym'...an insult to my noble heritage. To my entire culture and all the people who died because of their revolution.

No...no, that's wrong. They are but animals.
Thinking, that they managed to overthrow us all by themselves suggests, that they possess an intellect far greater than I want to admit them to have.
But I know better. I know that we were betrayed by my own kin...by my own people.
Someone used the vermin as a weapon to satisfy their thirst for power.
But ultimately, they are not at fault for our demise either, are they?
No, they merely wished to grab for power...who ultimately destroyed my people...the one who decided to steer into the devastating asteroid storm...was me.

I destroyed my ship.
I killed my people.
And yet, I live...when all the others had to die.

All of a sudden, I feel big and strong arms pull me into a warm embrace from behind me.

I look up and only now realize that I have broken down crying.

Sirus has wrapped his arms around me, cradling me back and forth gently, singing some sort of song I haven't heard before.
It has a soothing feel to it and just for a moment I feel sheltered...and safe.

But then the reality of the situation hits me straight in my face as blood rushes to my face and I wrestle myself from his grasp.
"H-how dare you touch me without my permission!" I spout at him, but the fool merely smiles at me and says quietly, "There we go...I expected you to slap me, actually."

"That can be arranged! That and so much more if you ever touch me again!" I yell, when a loud rumbling from the distance makes my head turn.

Dark clouds had pulled up without me noticing...just how long have I been spacing out? Was that...the reason?
Did he do that...to snap me out of it?

I shake my head as the first drops of rain start to fall.
"I...we need to find shelter. Quickly. Before we get completely soaked. We cannot afford to get sick."
"Sounds like a plan...so, what do we do?"
Wait, is that...is he actually asking me for instructions?
Despite his entire 'independence' speech he held me earlier?

He snaps his fingers in front of my face again, reminding me that he's still there.
"Ah, good, you're back. Seriously, you need to stop doing that!"
"What, thinking? Sorry, but good thoughts take time...either way, we don't have time to build a shelter, so we'll have to find a natural one. Our best bet is right over there in the forest. At the very least, the leaves will protect us from the rain. We are looking for a cave or something..."

The human...Sirus...raises his hand and asks, "And what is a 'cave'?"
I sigh and reply, "Basically...a big hole in the ground. Preferably made of rock."
"Ah, okay. And...what if we meet...you know, other lifeforms? Animals?"
"...kill them, if you can."
"What?! B-but..."
"I don't have time for a long winded explanation about the food chain, but it's either kill or be killed, got it?! Now move!"

Sirus nods and takes off towards the forest at an amazing speed.
By the time he reaches the first trees, the rain really starts to pour.
By the time I finally catch up, I am pretty much completely soaked.

So much for 'staying dry'.
