Shoupe left the triage room, stating that he was going to trade off with Kie. That was, JJ doesn't even know how long ago that was. Time was kind of irrelevant right now, but best he could guess it'd been at least a half hour.

He tightly shut his eyes, and loosely ran his hand over his face. He was so tired. It was like his mind was forcing his body to restart like a computer. Fighting it was incredibly difficult, especially when he had to bare the splitting headache that came with it. Just made him want to sleep it off even more.

Talking to Shoupe was like an out of body experience. He half wondered if he dreamt the whole thing. He felt so weird. Like his emotions were all over the place. He couldn't figure out if he was scared, or shocked, or anxious. Maybe a little pissed. No, wait, definitely pissed.

He fucking wiped out. Fuck! God, he'd been so sure he had it too. He did have it. He replays it in his mind a dozen times, but his memory is just not there. He partially remembers his board feeling unsteady and then nothing. It was like he blacked out or something.

Shoupe said they'd talk about it later. Didn't seem like he was really in the mood to discuss what happened then, and honestly JJ was so tired he probably couldn't hold a conversation anyway. But seeing Shoupe tear up made him feel bad. Like was it really that bad?

If he thinks about it critically, probably. Being in a hospital with no memory definitely leans that way. It hurt too much to try and dwell on the possibilities, though.

He starts to think about Kie. Shoupe said he was going to see her. Stupid rules about one person at a time or some shit didn't allow her to accompany his guardian back, but he knew she was there. Waiting. Probably pissed, if he knew her at all, about what happened. Even if he couldn't put all the details together, he knew he told her he wasn't going to be stupid and then he wakes up in a hospital bed. That's the definition of stupid.

He'd bare it though. Kie's anger always seemed righteous to him after all. She was never mad just to be mad. Always had a reason for it. Usually when she was mad at him it surrounded things like his safety. She'd been pissed on many an occasion over the recklessness that he exhibited in lieu of caution. This is not going to help that attitude. But, he'd rather have her mad than anything else about this.

Mad meant you knew things were okay. If Kie was mad, it was because she knew he was okay. Kinda like, you don't kick a dog when it's down, or whatever the saying was. He'd welcome a kick right now from her over this. Deserves it, honestly. He made Shoupe cry for God's sake. If that were any litmus test to the situation then Kie was going to be livid.

Can't wait to see that furrowed brow storm over to him and tell him how stupid he was. Imagines pulling her into a kiss, making her forget the whole thing with his lips. He could assuage her fury, at least for a little bit. The thought makes him smile as he lets his eyes close.

JJ starts to feel himself drift, noticing the sensation of falling before his head bobbed and he caught himself. He probably was sleeping, because when he opens his eyes a nurse in blue scrubs is in the room. She is checking his vitals and writing things down on a clip board before she spots him opening his eyes a little.
