I don't wanna be somebody
Without your body
Close to me
And if it wasn't you
I wouldn't want anybody
Close to me

Sarah Cameron's parties were always killer. Tanny Hill was massive, and her pretty much still being princess of the kooks almost guaranteed they wouldn't be busted, except for that one time in ninth grade that everyone had moved on from.

Honestly, since that fateful birthday Sarah hadn't had much time to throw parties, JJ knew. Things like treasure hunts and surviving her crazy as fuck older brother were suddenly much more important. Now, though. Now she clearly wanted to top anything that she had ever done before.

JJ walked into the place, and it was clear that the party had been going on a while. All the kids on Kildare Island must be at this thing with how packed it is. He looks around and notices that she's decidedly taken all the fine art and breakable shit down and hidden it. Good call. Music is blaring from the intense sound systems in every room and alcohol is spread out over the countertops and tables. People are chilling on the furniture and dancing in more than one location. Yup, this was what a party looked like.

JJ had just gotten off work and it's the first night he's had a break since before the competition. He appreciated Ben taking the time to mentor him a little before he left, but man was it work. Don't get him wrong, he fucking loved it. The guy knew what he was doing, and JJ had truly learned some new things, but he welcomed a night off where he could just hang with his friends.

He walks through the foyer, knowing his way around much better after that week Kie lived here, and went in search of the Pogues. He figured they'd be in the back near the pool.

Since he spoke to John B, or really in his mind was attacked without cause by John B, he'd gone to Kiara. He wanted to know if John B was on to something or if he was just full of shit.

He didn't ask her outright about Sam. He just couldn't see Kie being upset about that and wondered if bringing it up would offend her. She said she was good and denied being upset about anything and that initially made him feel great. Last thing he wanted was an unknown problem between him and his girl. But since, he hadn't talked to her much and part of him was still hearing John B telling him Kie was bothered by Sam's presence, and it made his skin crawl that he could be upsetting her without knowing.

He shook his head from the thoughts, it was stupid to think that she wouldn't tell him something like that. They've already been through this with Jade. Of course, that chick was way more direct, but it was the only measuring stick JJ had to compare the situations. And if compared it was easy to see that Sam didn't want anything like Jade did. She's never made a clear move so there was nothing to worry about.

He was still pissed at John B for hinting that something more could have been going on though. And yes, that was exactly what he thought John B was doing. He may have been trying to cover it up with concern over Kie's feelings but really, he could read between the lines. He didn't trust him.

John B wanted to make sure JJ didn't fuck things up with her. Make sure that he wasn't stepping into something he shouldn't. It was a disgusting feeling to be looked at suspiciously like that at all, let alone by your best friend. John B was supposed to have his back and give him the benefit of the doubt, not accuse him of baseless shit.

JJ honestly didn't see it the way John B did. Aside from being polite and offering to sit with them at the movie, Sam tagging along hadn't been of his own initiative. So, she wanted to train with her uncle? So, she was hungry and wanted food after? So, she happened to be at the movie and didn't have a place to sit. That was all coincidence. It wasn't like he or she planned any of it. Honest to God, he didn't even know the girl's last name. So, no. Nothing was going on.
