During the ride home, Justin was very quiet. It was unlike him. I felt awkward and wanted to break the silence so I said, "Marcus seems cool." He rolled his eyes then said with a laugh, "yeah, he is something." "How come I've never seen him at your other family events before?" He hesitated for a second. "He was away working in Germany." "That's so cool! I would love to hear more about his experience." He didn't respond. Instead, he changed the conversation. "I loved seeing my mom so happy tonight. She really enjoyed it." I smiled. "Yes, it was beautiful. That's gonna be us one day." I put my hand on his; he picked it up and kissed it. I laid my head back on the seat and closed my eyes. We still had half an hour until we got home so I might as well take a nap.
