We had dinner and all of us went to bed early that night because all of us were tired and we literally had mountains to climb starting the next day. I wanted to talk to him about it but as soon as I stepped inside his tent, I found myself being trapped into a deep sleep.

Of course, I felt him sleeping behind me under the same blanket to keep both of us warm. I wanted to get his hands off me but I was just too deep in sleep and it was freezing cold that night.

"There's still time," I told him the next morning. I was sure to wake up early to talk to him about this. We needed to revise our plans for the day anyway. "You can tell me what it is,"

In response, he gave me a long hard look and spoke back, "There's still time for you to go back. I don't want you in the valleys,"

I set my jaw and glared at him. The determination to send me back was still there in his eyes even though we were so close to the mountains. He seemed to be hellbent on sending me back but I'd decided to show him what true stubbornness really looked like.

"I will not go back," I told him looking dead in the eyes, "and whatever it is that you're hiding, I promise to dig it out,"

He didn't look happy with my declaration. In response, he offered me a growl but I was already out of the tent to go looking for Lua and my men to revise today's plans.

We had decided to spread across the valleys in groups of twenty. This way we had fifty groups covering different parts of the valleys. The Lycans made a somewhat similar plan like us and in no time we were ready to set out and climb the mountains.

Just when we were about to start marching towards the mountains, Ezekiel stood in front of the whole army. Instead of facing the mountains, he was facing the army, looking deadly grim.

"We are finally entering the valleys where death lingers in every corner," He shouted his words so that everyone was able to hear him clearly and of course, his lycan's powers were felt among every single one of us. I felt it in my bones as he continued to speak, "There's one thing no one should do at any cost! In the heart of the valley lives the River Levavin. Whatever happens, DO NOT TOUCH THE RIVER WATER OR GO ANYWHERE NEAR IT!"

I opened my mouth to ask him why not to do so but by the time I uttered my first word, his horse had already charged towards the mountains and he was galloping through the snow.

I looked at Tryfon who was still standing with us.

"What's up with the river?" I asked him.

"Just don't touch it. How hard is that to follow?" He shot back before charging forward as well.

"Do you want me to sneak into his tent at night and beat his ass?" Lua offered.

"Save it for the way back," I gritted before ordering my whole army to march forward. As we got closer and closer to the mountains, I felt this strange feeling in my guts which I couldn't quite explain.

Ezekiel and Tryfon were nowhere to be seen all of a sudden. I couldn't help but get slightly concerned at their absence when the time finally came for us to split into our assigned groups.

Lua and I were leading different teams. Her team went around the other mountain while mine was supposed to climb the huge mountain standing in front of us. It would easily take us two days to climb the giant mountain.

It was around late afternoon when we finally reached the mountain. My team and I started trekking it right away. It was already starting to get dark and the wind— it was so strong we had to tie us to each other so that it wouldn't blow us away and dump us into a ditch.

Climbing the mountain took all the willpower that I had. We were moving against the wind and taking each step forward got harder and harder every passing moment. Within walking only twenty steps we were exhausted but we kept on going even after it turned somewhat dark. We needed to reach the landmark at any cost otherwise we were going to be late tomorrow and I wasn't a fan of that.

I didn't want anything to set us back on our very first day here.

As the night grew darker, the wind grew stronger. It managed to knock a few of my wolves down but fortunately, we were all tied together so they were safe. I couldn't have been much happier when we finally reached our decided landmark that night even though it took us double the time.

We lit a special type of fire which wouldn't realize any smoke and set up our tents. Ezekiel let me take his tent. I didn't know where he was going to sleep tonight but I tried not to think of him too much. It wasn't good for me mentally or physically but I couldn't help but think about what he told us about the river again and again.

I was dog tired today and fortunately, my wolves cooked up something quickly while I recorded my observations for the day. I had dinner and went to sleep that night. It felt odd sleeping in that giant tent alone but little did I know that I wouldn't be feeling so alone soon.

It was when I had started to fall asleep when I heard someone breathing heavily outside my tent. It took me some time to notice it because the sound was almost lost in the howling of the night wind.

I sat up quietly and reached for my sword. I waited and tried to identify what it might be. Could it be an animal or a wolf from my camp? Though I didn't have to guess for long because the door of my tent was being zipped open from the outside and a very familiar lycan, who looked as if he'd been taken out of the freezer to defrost, stepped inside the tent searching for me.

I was shocked as I looked at his frozen dreadlocks. Even his eyelashes had turned white.

"What are you doing here?" I asked him.

"I wanted to see you," He grumbled as he zipped the door back and collapsed at the other corner of the tent.

"Are you kidding me? You came all the way here from the fifth peak in the dark while there's a snowstorm going on outside just to see me?" I questioned, looking at him in half horror and half surprise.

That scheming son of a bastard shrugged in response.
