After finishing the tray of food, Lavender takes the dishes and puts them back onto the tray as Domen grabs his phone from the floor, only to frown when he notices his phone's battery is about to die.
He turns it on and clenches his jaw when he notices the investigator's number in his messages, at the very top of it.
It's recent.
He taps on the message and notices it's already been ten minutes since the investigator had texted him.
Warning him that his grandmother knows where he is and is coming.
"Sh*t." Domen curses and turns to grab Lavender's phone as he gathers their belongings. "Hey, uh.. Lav, we need to go."
Lavender glances over her shoulder as she's chugging down a glass of water, furrowing her brows as he walks over to her and holds up her dress.
"Wear this, we really have to go." Domen says as he reaches down to the shirt she's wearing and loosens the buttons.
"What... What's going on?" Lavender asks but obliges and begins to wear her dress.
"Grandma found us." He says as he pulls on the shirt and his trousers. "We should leave before she gets here."
Lavender widens her eyes in horror and quickly finishes wearing the dress before rushing into the bathroom, wanting to at least wash her face.
Domen finishes up buttoning his skirt and rushes to the bathroom as he shoves Lavender's bra into his jacket's pocket.
"W-Wait just a moment-."
"-We don't have one." He grabs her wrist and pulls her out of the bathroom just as she was trying to rinse under her arms.
He hurries with her to the door and quickly steps out as he grabs both their shoes in one hand while holding hers in the other.
The rush to the elevator and he stops the moment he notices the elevator is rising up to their floor.
"Stairs." He says and doesn't give her a second to process what's going on as she's taken down the stairs.
"Domen wait! I can't... I can't keep up!" She panics as she's about to fall.
He stops and bends his back a little, signaling her to hop on.
Knowing she doesn't have time to complain, she pulls her dress up a little and gets on his back just as the elevator dings.
Once she's on him he sprints the rest of the way down the stairs much faster than before.
"Domen!" The distant scream of his grandmother the moment she steps out of the elevator fills Lavender with fear as she widens her eyes when they finally get to the reception area.
People glance towards them in shock and Domen puts Lavender down as he walks over to the receptionist.
"Go to the car, Lav, I'll find you there." Domen says as he gives her the keys before turning to the receptionist who is looking at them with furrowing brows. "I'm leaving uh... Room 204, you know me I know, here's my card and do it fast."
Domen hands the receptionist the card and he quickly recieves it.
Domen glances towards the elevator and clenches his jaw as he notices it descending.
"Could you be a bit faster?" Domen asks and the receptionist nods frantically as he inputs whatever he is doing on the monitor before handing it back to Domen who snatches it and leaves the front desk in a blink of an eye.
Domen rushes out of the building and goes to his car, finding Lavender already seat looking paranoid as she watches him open the door and hop in.
"Did she see you?" Lavender asks as he starts the car and steps on the reverse peddle, driving out of the parking lot and towards the gate.
"Don't think so." He chuckles as he gives a quick glance towards the inside of the building as he passes by, catching a glimpse of his grandmother who also noticed the car leaving. "Now she's seen us."
Lavender glances towards the back of the car as she notices a woman step out of the building, glaring their way before they disappear through the gate and into the main road.
Clenching her jaw, Lavender could feel her heart thud in fear as she continues to stare being them, feeling as though they would be followed, fearing for himself.
She's taken aback when she hears Domen chuckle while turning at the next turn.
"What's so funny? That was actually scary!" Lavender hisses as she sits back down to the chair and runs her nervous hands along her dress.
"I've never run from anyone before." He chuckles as he glances at her for a second before glancing back at the road as he makes harsh turns without slowing down. "It's hilarious."
"No it's not. I got the shivers the moment you said she was coming." Lavender sighs out as he runs a hand through her hair. "That was so scary... And not to mention the way people kept looking at us."
Domen bursts out laughing when he remembers the receptionist's expression when he saw them.
The horrified and worried look was priceless.
"Gosh, I'm still shaking." Lavender whines as she opens the compartment boxes and looks around for something. "Don't you have water? Damn it, now I have to pee."
He chuckles as he glances back at Lavender before glancing back to the road.
"Don't worry, I'll stop by another hotel and we can get a quick shower." He says as he makes another turn.
"Not an expensive one, that's how she found us, take us to a less obvious one." Lavender hisses as he presses his lips together but nods his head in agreement.
"Whatever you say, chipmunk." He chuckles as she sighs out and leans into the chair, trying to calm herself down as she closes her eyes.
"It feels like I killed someone and I'm running from the police." She whines as he simply smiles and shrugs his shoulders while reaching his free hand down to the GPS, putting in the coordinates of the most 'affordable' motels.
It locks in the closest one to them and he drives towards it as Lavender still tries to calm herself down.
Approaching the said motel as the GPS tells him to make his last turn to the right, he frowns the moment he looks up at the place.
It's clearly not his cup of tea.
An evident frown makes its way to his lips as he slowly drives into the parking lot.
"Are you sure it's safe to even be here?" Domen asks as he glances at Lavender who opens her eyes and glances around.
"Yes, perfect, let's go, I really need a shower." She sighs in relief and steps out the moment Domen parks.
He sighs as he steps out and glances up at the sign that is still standing talk but with a faint flicker.
Could be worse.
He clenches his jaw and walks towards Lavender who leads the way to the reception.
The man sitting behind the counter instantly heard them walk in and gets up to see who it is.
The expensive dress and suit they are wearing gives them away despite the state that their hair and faces are in.
"One room please." Lavender sighs as she stops in front of the desk, staring up at the man who stares back down at her.
"Okay." He nods his head as he goes to his monitor and presses his lips together. "We have only one room available and it's out best one yet. So... Might be pricy."
"Stop with that, I've been in motels when I was a teenager, I know there's no such thing as 'the best room' so you better not overprice or I'll call the police on you." She hisses and the man frowns down at her before nodding his head.
Domen glances down at Lavender who sighs and holds her hand out to Domen, signaling him to give her his card.
He does as told and she hands it to him, getting the receptionist to frown at them both.
"What?" Lavender asks with furrowing brows.
"We only accept cash only." He says as he folds his arms on his chest. "Our machine is busted for now."
Lavender frowns at him and she glanced back at Domen and grabs her purse from his hands, lucky he had decided to grab it on their way out.
She pulls out the money in her purse and counts it before handing it to the receptionist who quickly counts it before handing them a key.
"Enjoy your stay." Lavender nearly rolls her eyes at this and grabs Domen's hand before walking towards the door.
