Feeling her knees about to give in, Lavender quickly rushes to Cameron's car who hasn't left since they got there.
It had been nearly two hours since she went into the building and Cameron didn't move from his spot as he wondered what she could be thinking of that's forced her into such a decision.
It can't just be Domen.
The door opening takes him by surprise only to calm down when he notices it's just Lavender who gets in and shuts the door.
She lets out a heavy breath as she runs her fingers along her thigh while glancing out of the car.
"Lavender-"
"I couldn't." Lavender says as tears began to stream down her face. "Cameron, I couldn't get rid of it... I tried so hard to convince myself but I got second thoughts at the last minute... I didn't want to get rid of it."
Cameron eases his shoulders as she watches her cry once more.
Not because of the results, but because she feels like she's betrayed herself.
The look in her eyes before she left the car told him she was going to go through with it.
But her subconscious wouldn't let her and battled her, making her lose.
He starts the car and slowly drives out of the parking lot when he knows he can only comfort her better when she's accepted the reality.
Right now she's still fighting with herself, she doesn't want to accept it yet she doesn't want to deny it either.
Two conflicting sides, tied between two stools.
He drives out of the hospital gates and makes his way towards the busy road, planning to getting her a new phone before taking her phone.
Only wanting to drive a little longer so she can cool off.
He's got nothing to say about it.
He can't help but feel irritated by it, but he can't do anything about it. At the same time he doesn't want her making choices she'll regret later on and turn into someone entirely different.
Just like all the marriages he's witness throughout his carrier, often than not, many of his clients confine in the truth with him.
Many had wished they never went through it because they ended up unable to have children.
Others still could but their lives had never been the same since.
Lavender is only a victim of her own feelings for a man who doesn't want to reciprocate them.
But he's glad she's chosen something she's willing to live with.
Carrying the child of a man who will never be with her.
"Wait here, okay?" Cameron says as he glances at Lavender who nods her head while leaning back into the seat, starting to stop her crying when her head is starting to kill her entirely.
Cameron closes the door before venturing into the phone store.
Lavender sighs as she glances down at her stomach and reaches her hand up to caress it, feeling her heart jolts when she reminds herself she'll be a mother soon.
In eight months.
Shifting her eyes from her stomach the moment she hears a child crying just outside her window, she notices a woman dusting off the dirt on a crying toddler's jacket as she is pointing down at her fallen icecream.
The woman is smiling, giving her daughter an assuring smile, telling her through her smile and eyes that it will be alright as Lavender watches just behind them.
The idea of being a mother of Domen's child sent shivers down her spine. She didn't want it, but she has to accept it.
Things happened.
She drops her gaze down to her laps before directing them towards Cameron who is still in the store but at the reception, buying the phone.
He hasn't said much since she got into the car, but she's glad he didn't.
Her mind was in shambles and she felt shattered.
But the choice has been made.
There's no turning back now.
"I hope you like this one." Cameron says as he gets into the car and hands her a plastic bag with the new phone inside. "I saw the feminine color, bought the expensive one and I don't know much about phones, since I barely get the time to use it. I just know the more money it demands the better."
Lavender gives him a weak smile as she takes the bag and opens it, taking the phone out.
"You should have just told me to wire the money, I have a bonus." She says as she clears her slightly swollen throat from all the crying while opening the package. "Thanks though."
"It's the least I could do." Cameron smiles as he watches her unbox the phone and turn it on. "Are you hungry? Because I am."
Before Lavender could answer, she notices Cameron's phone turn on with a caller icon on the screen seconds before it disappears, only to notice the thousands of notifications of missed calls from whomever is calling him.
She shifts her gaze from the phone placed between the seats and glances up to meet his gaze.
"You have work." She says as she reaches for the ribbon holding her hair back and removes it to give her head more room to breathe. "You have a lot of missed calls."
"I know but you need me." Cameron shrugs his shoulders as he glances down at his phone. "I will answer them once you're okay."
"I am now." She smiles as she tilts her head to the side. "Don't put your job at risk, I'll be fine."
"You aren't okay, Lavender." Cameron furrows his brows as he glances at her. "Don't pretend... I see how this is hurting you-."
"And you can't pretend your job won't suffer. Just drop me home, please." Lavender says as she watches him look away and lean into the sit, reluctant to. "I'll stay home, locked in and I'll take a nap maybe."
"Then I'll see you soon after I get things sorted out.... Though I might be late." Cameron sighs out as he runs a hand through his hair. "Probably very late."
"Then come tomorrow. I'm planning on shutting myself in today." She shrugs her shoulders as she chews the inside of her mouth. "I don't want to see any of the others. Not Evette, not Walter... Especially not him."
Cameron nods his head as he reaches down to the keys and starts the car, letting it roar like a beast before stepping on the accelerator.
"Will you tell him, though?" He asks as he drives into the road. "When you cool down?"
"Not at all." Lavender shakes her head in denial as she glances out of the window. "I don't want any of them knowing it's his. That's where the problem will erupt. I'll lie somehow."
"Use me then." Cameron says as he glances down at Lavender for a second before glancing back at the road. "If you have to lie, use me as the expecting father. I'm willing to stay with you longer."
Lavender smiles at this and glances down to her laps as she clenched her toes.
"I honestly don't know why you like me, but okay." She chuckles slightly as tears blur her eyes. "Even if things don't go well at least they'll think of you as the father."
"I'm not willing to let this go elsewhere, anyway. I'm a busy man and I haven't seen anyone else but you." He shrugs his shoulders as he pulls into Lavender's neighbourhood. "Everything about you is hard to read. I can't predict you entirely, makes me drawn to you. So it's okay if you lie using me. I'll make sure they believe it."
Lavender nods her head slowly as she glances up at her house that is slowly growing bigger the closer they get.
"Don't tell anyone in the mean time if that's your decision." Cameron says as he stops in front of her house. "And if you're willing to let me take the role of its father, it means you want to get serious with me. I can't just be a pawn."
Lavender stares at him as he stares back at her with a serious gaze, meaning all he's saying.
She nods her head and he smiles slightly as he leans in and plants his lips down onto her shoulder, getting her to raise her brows, still confused why Cameron isn't getting angry.
"I'll see you tomorrow morning then." He says as he reaches over to her door and opens it for her before unbuckling her seatbelt. "And once we turn what's growing between us into an actual relationship, I want you to know that I get crazy jealous and possessive at times."
"Is it bad?" She smiles slightly to which he smirks to and winks.
"That's for you to find out." He chuckles and she nods as she steps out of the car and grabs her new and old phone altogether. "Don't be alone with him, let alone near him, okay? I don't want you falling into another trap. Or him taking you from me."
"I'm not dreaming of it." She shrugs her shoulders and closes the door, stepping away as he starts the car.
I also can't read Cameron at all.
