———

I lay awake in the arms of Tewkesbury in his estate.

It's not at I don't feel safe, it's just that I have so many thoughts ticking in my brain.

So many things to do.

I sit up and slowly untangle myself from his arms, putting a pillow in my place that I hope will suffice for a few minutes.

I go to his office and pull out a paper, quill, and ink and get to writing. I'm only going to be here for a few minutes, and then I'll go back to sleep.

I scribble furiously, trying to get all my thoughts into the paper.

"Love?" I hear a raspy voice call me from down the hall. I assume he sees the candlelight and makes his was three doors down. He peeks his head in to see me writing rapidly. "Love, what are you doing up?"

"I couldn't sleep. I just needed to write something down." I mumble.

He comes over to me and starts to massage my hunched shoulders. "Come back to sleep." He says when I lean into his touch.

I sigh and look up. Tewkesbury leans down and peck my lips, making me smile, a wave of tiredness coming over me.

"All right." I say defeatedly.

He pulls my hands gently and leads me to the bedroom.

He lies me down gently and gets in next to me. I curl up next to him and he runs his hands through my hair. "I was worried when I woke and you weren't beside me." He mumbles into my hair.

"Whatever for?"

"I was um... I was worried you'd left me." He says quietly.

I pull away and look into his eyes, the moonlight coming in from the window illuminating his features. I cup his cheeks gently and he leans into my touch. "I would never leave you." I whisper to him.

He smiles softly and I lean in and kiss his lips softly, as if he might break. He holds me tightly, as if he was scared I would float away. I tilt my head to the side, deepening the kiss slightly, before he kisses my neck softly and rests his head on my shoulder. "Lets get some sleep, yeah?" I whisper.

"Yes, love. The faster we go to sleep, the faster we can wake up, and the sooner you can go back to writing." He teases.

I smile and kiss his head, hugging his neck before slowly drifting off to sleep.

short but sweet
