Chapter 7 : Some questions

Start from the beginning

- "You know where she lives? Places she frequents? Friends? Family?" insisted Hopper.

- "Maybe, maybe not," answered the boy with a smug smirk.

- "Do you want me to visit your apartment?"

- "You can't, not without a good reason, which you don't have."

Hopper clenched his jaw. He hated when wankers like him were knowing the laws better than him. He hoped he could have answers by threatening him.

- "Did you have sex with her!?" intervened Joyce.

- "It's not your business, mommy."

- "I'm pretty sure you had, she is underage, it's illegal and disgusting."

- "Well, she asked for it!"

- "Then you had sex with her? You don't deny it?"

- "She was fine with it, gosh, I didn't rape her!"

Hopper had a small smile. Like that, he could arrest him for having sex with an underage girl. He handcuffed him and brought him to his car. While Hopper was placing the boy in his vehicle, two girls approached them and noticed the picture.

- "You're looking for Jane?" asked Mallory.

- "Oh, uh, yeah, you know her?" asked Joyce.

- "Yeah, she is our friend."

- "Do you know where she could be?"

- "I know she stays with her aunt sometimes, but, Jane is the kind to crash into people's sofas before disappearing so, I don't know. You can try bars or places like that."

- "We'll begin with her aunt," said Hopper. "Do you know where she lives?"

- "Oh, yeah, it's in a building with services apartments, it's for people who don't have lots of money. Her name is Cassandra Blake, if I've a good memory."

- "Thank you, a lot," smiled Joyce. "Are you part of the gang?"

- "Oh hell no! I wouldn't give you all this information if I was!"

- "Ok, well, if you need anything, (gives a paper) you can call me, ok? Don't hesitate."

- "Ok. Thank you. If I see Jane, I'll tell her you're looking for her."

Joyce put a comforting hand on the girl's shoulder before going in the car with Hopper. She wondered how many teenagers were living like that, if she could call this "living", it looked more like surviving. Hopper brought back Kevin at the police station, made a file, and locked him, before going back with Joyce to Jane's aunt's apartment. They walked through the grey and cold corridors, passing in front of different doors. Cassandra was living at the first floor, relieving them, like that, they didn't have to take the stairs at all. They knocked at a red door. A small woman with short black hair and a black dress with purple flowers, accentuating her body shapes, opened the door. She took a puff of her cigarette before asking:

- "What's for?"

- "Is Jane here?" told Joyce.

- "JANE! There are Chip and Dale for you!"

- "I'M COMING!"

Cassandra made a movement with her head to invite them to enter. There was a small opened kitchen on their left with a counter to delimit the place with the living-room in front of it. There was a corridor on the left between the kitchen and the living-room. In the living-room there was a white couch against the wall on the left with white armchairs facing a TV with a coffee table in the middle, a glass door showing their small garden. Jane came from the room behind the white couch.

- "What do you want!?" asked sharply Jane.

- "Good afternoon to you too," answered Hopper. "I've some questions for you. Where were you last night?"

- "She was here, with me," intervened Cassandra. "It was Friday night, when we're both free we watch a movie together."

- "What was it?"

- "Lilo and Stitch."

Hopper and Joyce looked at Jane to see if they could see something proving she was lying, but Jane was emotionless.

- "Someone claimed they recognized you at the Wheeler's house, what do you have to say about it?"

- "I can't be everywhere, as I was there," answered coldly Jane.

- "She recognized your tattoo in your neck," continued Hopper.

- "Really? Interesting."

- "A tattoo is not very common."

- "A dragon tattoo in a neck is more than common. Walk ten minutes in the streets and you'll see many dragons in many necks."

- "What are accusing her for?" frowned Cassandra.

- "Burglaries."

- "Ok. But, she was here, it can't be her! So, if you don't have more questions, I would like you to leave."

Hopper and Joyce looked at each other with the same disappointed eyes before beginning to step back. Joyce took a paper from her pocket and gave it to Jane.

- "Call me if you need anything, ok?"

- "Go fuck yourself," replied calmly Jane.

Joyce didn't insist. The two adults left the apartment, letting the woman and the young girl alone.

- "Lilo and Stitch!? Really!? Is that a real movie at least!?"

- "I thought you were liking it as you have Stitch hugging a duck in your arm!"

Jane frowned before looking at her arm. So this blue character was Stitch. Interesting.

- "I think you could thank me," smirked the black-haired woman.

- "I didn't ask you anything."

- "I gave you an alibi!"

- "I didn't need an alibi, I did nothing."

Cassandra approached slowly to Jane, blocking her against the bar and sensually touching her thigh.

- "You lie like most people breath, Jane."

- "I'm on my periods."

- "(sighs with her nose) See, you lie again, you had your periods ten days ago. And I know how horny you are after your periods."

The woman took a pill from her pocket and placed it in Jane's mouth.

- "In a few minutes, you'll beg me to eat you, believe me."

Jane was stuck; she knew Cassandra wouldn't give up before she got what she wanted, and Jane didn't want to look for another place to stay. The brunette leaned to her to kiss her. The faster it was done, the faster it was over.
