Through The Dark

Chapter Four: Battlefield

I got through my first day of school at McKinley without barley saying anything. I refused to speak. I refused to trust. It didn't even feel like anyone cared about my presence. Well, except for one guy. He was in my Spanish class... I always felt like he was going to talk to me but, he never did. Besides he seemed like one of those cool guys who would never talk to someone like me. Him starring at me was probably all in my imagination.

The next day at school I was at my locker when the boy from my Spanish class came up to me. "Hey Rachel! I'm Finn! From Spanish class..." I looked at him shyly and smiled a little, "Hi Finn from Spanish class." Finn smiled back, "I just wanted to ask how you liked it here?" "I like it. I mean, I really haven't done anything yet..." I said before closing my locker. Finn nodded and thought for a minute before looking back at me with excitement. "You should come to my friends party with me on Friday... As friends... It will be a good way for you to meet people!" He smiled brightly. "Umm... Yeah... Umm maybe!" I said nervously. "Great! Here let me write down my number for you so if you decide you want to come you can just text me." Finn said as he wrote down his number and handed it to me. I nodded shyly and smiled a little, "Alright thanks..."

When Finn walked off I looked down at the paper he gave me. Those numbers... Why would he give me his number? He couldn't possibly like me. No guy ever actually likes me for me. Just my body. I couldn't help but think that's all Finn wants. He seemed like a really nice, good guy but again, I don't trust anyone. I don't think I can go to that party with him. For some odd reason I wanted to. I debated in my head forever rather I should go or not. I still don't know. My life feels like me against the world in this big, gigantic, battlefield.
