I hadn't even heard as he approached the front door.

His knocking was calm but the aura he gave off was anything but.

Pierro approached the door and I got up off the couch.

Scaramouche and I followed after Pierro. While Kaeya stayed behind and watched.

When Pierro opened the doors it was Dottore and only Dottore who stood outside.

"Doctor," Pierro said in acknowledgment.

"Hello, Jester." Dottores eyes moved past him and spotted Scaramouche.

When Scaramouche saw Dottore he let go of my hand and went running.

He crashed right into Dottore and began sobbing.

Dottore bending down picked up the small child and slowly rubbed soothing circles on his back. Scaramouche held onto him for his dear life.

Pierro only shook his head at the display.

Dottore using his free hand reached into his pocket and pulled out a few slips of paper.

"Here." He handed them to Pierro who took them without a second thought.

"I look forward to working with you in the future."

Dottore nodded his head and then his eyes flickered toward me.

There was still something oddly cold about the way he looked.

Even after having his son returned to him nothing changed. There wasn't even a glimpse of relief.

Was this all because he was in business mode?

I looked back at him hoping he would see what my voice couldn't say.

"Yes, I look forward to it as well." He did not look at Pierro.

His eyes were still fixated on me until Scaramouche tugged at his shirt.

Dottore looked down and Scaramouche whispered something into his ear.

There was no hint of emotion as Dottore nodded.

"Excuse me. We should be going."
