The plan for Christmas was for Lorelai, Luke, and April to spend it by with Rory, Logan, and the kids. They would arrive Christmas Eve, and they would celebrate together and then on Christmas Day, Rory and Logan would go see Sammy in the afternoon, while everyone else went to the Gilmores. Nobody knew that Rory and Logan had a little surprise.
Around 3 in the afternoon, on Christmas Eve, Lorelai, Luke, and April arrived at Rory and Logan's apartment.
"Hello?" Lorelai called out when she walked into the apartment with Luke and April
"Hey" Logan walked over to the entryway
"Merry Christmas!" Lorelai smiled
"I always forget how much you love Christmas" Logan chuckled "you guys can leave your stuff here for now, we'll bring it up later. Rory's in the living room"
Lorelai walked towards the living room, followed by Luke, then April, then Logan.
"Shut up!" Lorelai gasped when she walked into the living room to see Rory sitting on the couch, holding Sammy.
"Surprise!" Rory said softly
"When the hell did that happen?!"
"Lorelai..." Luke said
"Mom, seriously?" Rory asked "My kids are upstairs"
"You don't get to 'seriously?' me, when you surprise me with something like this" Lorelai said "when did he come home?"
"Yesterday" Logan said
"I thought he wasn't gonna be able to come home for a while"
"So, they don't usually discharge babies until they weigh at least 3 pounds, but they made an exception since he's only one ounce short and he's otherwise healthy" Logan said
"He's so cute" April said
"His outfit is huge" Lorelai chuckled "is that newborn size?"
"It's preemie size, he's just tiny" Logan said
"Am I allowed to hold him?" Lorelai asked
"Yeah, just wash your hands first, and then use the hand sanitizer that's next to the kitchen sink" Rory said
Lorelai left the room and came back a minute later.
Rory stood up and handed Sammy to Lorelai "just watch his foot, because he has a heart monitor thing on it and if you bump it, both of phones are gonna go off"
"Is that necessary?" Luke asked
"It shouldn't be, but you never know"

Everyone was in the living room, except Logan who was preparing Sammy's bottle.
"Hey" Logan poked his head into the living room "I'm gonna have to take him in a second to feed him"
"I'll feed him" Luke said
"Remember when Luke wouldn't even hold your babies, let alone feed them?" Lorelai chuckled
"In his defense, the first 2 times, I was breastfeeding so he couldn't feed them" Rory said
"Don't talk about breastfeeding" Luke groaned
"Seriously dad?" April laughed
"Yeah, Luke, are you not over it by not?" Rory asked
"No. And your kids are in the room, you don't care if they hear you talk about breastfeeding?"
"They participated in it" Lorelai said "why would she care?"
"Yeah, but they participated out of necessity" April pointed out "and they don't the difference between that and a bottle. To them food is food"
"Alright" Luke said and handed Sammy back to Rory
"I knew that was coming" Rory laughed "and believe me, they know the difference"
"Really?" April asked
"Yeah" Lorelai said
Just then Logan walked back into the living room.
"Is this going to you now?" Logan asked Rory and held up Sammy's bottle
"Looks like it" Rory said and took the bottle from Logan
"While you're doing that, I'm gonna break out the bag of Christmas traditions, that your kids don't even know because we haven't spent a whole Christmas together since you found out you were pregnant the first time" Lorelai said
"That was a good Christmas" Rory smiled
"What was a good Christmas?" April asked
"6 years ago, to the day, I found out I was pregnant with Nicky" Rory said "and then I told Logan at our parents' house, because I was excited and impatient"
"Hey, do you have a ceiling fan in your bedroom?" Lorelai asked and pulled out a piece of mistletoe
"You are not putting mistletoe in our bedroom" Rory said
"Why not?" Lorelai asked
"No. There's a ceiling fan in every room, pick one on this floor please"
"Kitchen?"
"Go for it"

"Please make sure the movie for tonight is kid friendly" Rory said
"It is" Lorelai said
"What movie did you pick?"
"Die Hard"
"What planet are you from?!"
"What's wrong with die hard?"
"My kids are 5 and 2 years old. They're not watching die hard. Besides, it's not really a Christmas movie"
"Yes it is"
"Mom...How the grinch stole Christmas, polar express, home alone...kid friendly"
"You're no fun" Lorelai pouted
"Excuse me for not wanting to traumatize my children"
"Fine...home alone?"
"Perfect"

After everyone went too bed, Rory and Logan were sitting on the couch. Logan had his arm around Rory and she was leaning on him.
"What was your favorite Christmas ever?" Rory asked
"The year you told me that I was gonna be a dad" Logan said "that was pretty special"
"Yeah?" Rory smiled
"Yeah. I mean every year since then has been amazing too, but something about about that day..."
"Did I ever tell you how I found out?" Rory asked
"I don't think so"
"It was Christmas Eve. We were driving up to my mom's in the morning, and about an hour into the drive, I realized that my period was late so I made you stop for gas"
"I remember. I was confused because we had almost half a tank"
"Yeah. So while you were getting gas I went inside and bought a pregnancy test"
"You took it in the gas station?" Logan asked in disbelief
"I did" Rory admitted "and then I took 3 more at my mom's house to make sure"
"You found out you were pregnant in a gas station bathroom?"
"Yeah. I know it's kinda gross but we'd been trying for so long and when I realized that I could be pregnant, I had to know"
"Our kids are pretty great, aren't they?"
"I think so"
Just then they heard crying on the baby monitor.
"You wanna get him or make the bottle?" Logan asked
"I'll get him"
