Saturday morning Rory and Logan were sitting at the kitchen island, reading the newspaper and eating breakfast when the intercom buzzed.
"Don't get up" Logan said and patted Rory's leg as he got up and walked over to the elevator to see who it was. He pressed the button on the intercom so he could talk to whoever was downstairs "who is it?"
"Your new apartment is annoying" Lorelai said over the intercom. The new apartment was the penthouse, and the elevator opened right into the apartment, meaning that you either needed a key to get to that floor or someone needed to buzz you up
Logan laughed "come on up, Lorelai"
A minute later Lorelai walked into the apartment and she and Logan walked into the kitchen
"Hey there" Lorelai said
"Hey!" Rory said "It's..." she looked at the clock "9am. What are you doing here?"
"I had some errands to run, and thought I'd come check in on my favorite pregnant lady"
"I have to ask...do you know more than one pregnant person?" Logan asked
"Not at the moment. No"
"Guess what" Rory said
"I give up"
"Baby's kicking" Rory smiled
"Really?!" Lorelai rushed over to Rory and put both hands on her belly
"I didn't mean right now" Rory said
"Oh..." Lorelai said, a little disappointed, and moved to stand at the counter, across from where Rory was sitting "by the way, I made you something. Well, actually I made Nicky something, but same difference. It's not perfect, but-" Lorelai trailed off when she noticed what Rory was doing "what did you just do?"
"Ate a carrot?"
"No...you dipped the carrot in peanut butter, and then you ate it"
"Yeah, so?"
"That's really weird"
"Not even the weirdest craving I've had" Rory said "not even in the top 10, actually"
"Seriously?"
"Oh, you really don't wanna go there" Logan said
"Now I'm curious"
"There was the watermelon with salt" Rory said
"Weird" Lorelai said
"There was a little while where you ate lemons like oranges" Logan said
"How?" Lorelai asked I would shrivel up into a ball of sour"
Rory just shrugged
"Pickles and peanut butter" Logan said
"Cheddar cheese with honey" Rory said
"Oreos and mustard" Logan said
"Ok, that's just criminal" Lorelai interjected
"The point is that there have been a lot of weird craving" Rory said
"I can see that" Lorelai chuckled "anyway, what I was saying is that I made something for Nicky. It's not perfect, but I think you'll like it" she reached into her bag and pulled out a fleece baby blanket with little grey giraffes on it and handed it to Rory
"Mom..." Rory said "you're gonna make me cry"
"As long as it's in a good way"
"This is great" Logan said "thank you"
