Meet Again

Preschool

Rory and Logan usually heard Grace on the baby monitor before their alarm went off, but on Nicky's first day of preschool, the alarm went off before either of the kids woke up.

Logan and Rory got up and ready before getting the kids up.

Rory walked into Nicky's room. She crouched down next to his bed and gently stroked his cheek "good morning, bubba" she said, softly

Like he did most morning Nicky reached his arms out to hug Rory. Rory hugged Nicky, sitting him up in the process. A few moments later Rory went to let go but Nicky stopped her.

"No!"

"Bubba, we need to get ready for school"

"I don't wanna go!"

"I know, but it's gonna be really fun, and Emma will be there, you like Emma"

"I wanna stay with you"

"I know" Rory said and rubbed his back

After eventually getting Nicky out of bed and dressed, Rory brought him downstairs.

"What do you want for breakfast?" Rory asked

"Waffles!"

"You got it"

A few minutes later Logan came downstairs with Grace.

"Hi" Rory said and took Grace from Logan "good morning" she kissed Grace's cheek "No processors?"

"Oh, I forgot" Logan said "I'll be right back"

Nicky giggled "daddy forgot Grace's ears"

"Yes he did"

"Alright bubba, I gotta go" Rory said as she stood, crouched down in front of Nicky.

"No!" Nicky said and wrapped his arms around Rory's neck

"I have to leave, I have work"

"I wanna go with you"

"I know" Rory sighed "but you are gonna have such a good time, and I promise that daddy's gonna come pick you up really soon, ok?"

"No!"

"I'm sorry. I have to go"

Half an hour later Rory was back home.

"How was it?" Logan asked when Rory walked into the kitchen where he was working.

"You're dropping him off tomorrow"

"That good, huh?"

Later that day Logan went to pick up Nicky.

"Daddy!" Nicky called out when he saw Logan. He ran over to Logan and wrapped his arms around his leg

"Hey buddy!" Logan picked Nicky up and kissed his cheek "did you have fun?"

"Yeah"

"Good" Logan smiled

Half an hour later they were home.

"Mama!" Nicky ran to Rory and she picked him up

"Hi baby!" Rory said "how was preschool?"

"It was good"

"Good, I'm glad" Rory smiled "what did you do?"

"I played with Emma, and we read books, and I didn't eat lunch, and then daddy picked me up. I'm gonna go play with Teddy" Nicky said and ran upstairs

"Did he just say that he didn't eat lunch?" Rory asked

"Yeah..."

Rory and Logan walked upstairs to the playroom where Nicky was playing with Teddy.

"Hey bubba?" Rory said

"What?" Nicky asked

"Why didn't you eat lunch?"

"I didn't like it"

"So you didn't eat anything all day?" Logan asked. Rory had dropped Nicky off at 8am and it was now 3:30pm

"I ate goldfish at snack time"

Logan gave Nicky something to eat and rory messaged Nicky's teacher to find out why Nicky hadn't eaten.

That night after the kids were asleep Rory and Logan were sitting in the kitchen.

"So, I think we need to send Nicky to school with lunch" Rory said

"Why?"

"Because that kid is so picky and I'd rather pack him something than have him go hungry, especially because he won't say that he doesn't like the food, he just won't eat"

"So we send him with lunch that he'll eat. Simple enough"

Nicky was at school and Grace was napping so Rory and Logan took the opportunity to get some housework done.

"Best part about a deaf baby..." Rory said "you can vacuum while she's napping"

"Which is even more necessary now that we're have a cat who sheds everywhere" Logan said

"Hey, the cat was your idea"

"It was not!"

"Yes it was!"

"You said to me 'I think we should get Nicky a cat for his birthday' and I agreed"

"See? You admit it. You agreed" Rory smiled

"Agreeing it does not make it my idea" Logan laughed

"Agree to disagree"

"Come here" Logan smiled. He put his hand under Rory's chin and kissed her

"Is that you admitting that I'm right?" Rory teased

"Ace!" Logan laughed

"What?"

"You know...there are other ways to use our child free time"

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah" Logan put his hands on Rory's waist and kissed her again

"We can do this later"

"Definitely"
