Keisha

My parents picked me up yesterday. I finally get to go home. It was fun with Keithan and Marilyn but there's no place like home.

Kahlil kinda disappeared off the face of the earth. Well not really. He ran away, to my cabin.

How do I know?

I have motion sensors and cameras.

Unfortunately I found out four days too late because his mother already called the police.

So I call Mrs. Hayes.

"Keisha, tell me you know where he is?"

"My motion sensor alarm went off at my cabin. He's the only one who knows how to get in without a key besides myself. Plus, on my phone, I can see him laying in my sleeping bag on the floor."

Why doesn't he just lay in the bed?

"Keisha can you please go get him."

"You are awarenever mind. I'll go get him. No problem."

I hang up.

I slowly grab my crutches. I trail over to my keys—

"Keisha-Rae where do you think you are going?"

Dammit. "Uhh, no where?"

"Mhmmm." Dad stares me down.

"Okay, Dad my foot doesn't—"

"Okay. That's great if it doesn't hurt. You are not cleared. You are not getting on that bike."

I think things through. "Okay, but I'm still going out."

"Where?"

"Kahlil, I know where he is."

"How will you get there?"

I pick up my phone. "Give me a couple minutes."

I call Tamera.

She immediately says, "Superbusycantchatrightnowbye!"

I call Wayne. "You are with Tamera?"

"Yep."

"On a scale of one to the most regretful decision to ever make. How would you rate sitting in a long drive with Tyrel?"

"It depends what mood he's in. What's this about?"

"Kahlil..."

"You know where he is?"

"Yep."

"Okay then the ride would be fine. This is serious. Tyrel will be serious."

***

"Wow Keisha, road trip with yours truly. I am so flattered."

I rub my temples. "Tyrel this is the millionth time you've said that! Shut up!"

"You should really get a drivers license."

"Cars are too bulky."

"Well it's better than riding your bike in this weather."

"My seat is heated."

"I have no wind, snow, rain, soot, or mud on me ever."

"Fair point."

"So why me?"

"I didn't want to take my parents back to this place. And Tamera was busy with Wayne. So yes, you were a last resort, but I trust you."
