Sept 23 2022 this journey began and I've hidden this book ever since. It's been completed for a while. Today is Feb 17, 2024 and I'm just gonna post these chapters and see how this goes.

Now the regular stuff: this book is all my ideas. Please don't take them. If something gets a strong reaction outta you it was made that way.

⚠️ This book explores themes of physical violence, sexual assault and grief. Read at your own discretion.

I have edited but not thoroughly sooooo any errors... bear with me.

NOW ENJOY. THIS IS ONE CRAZY BOOK. STAR, COMMENT, IT WILL ENCOURAGE ME TO POST MORE CHAPTERS. 🫶

Keisha

It always gets worse in the summer. I guess I can say it's the heat getting to them. I've had my bags packed for weeks. They sit on the side of my door waiting to be taken away. I thought things would change.

It's been years. Mom and Dad still hate each other. I wish they would just separate already. I'm tired of this.

"Keisha-Rae!"

Great.

I walk down there.

"Yes Dad?"

He puts his hands on my shoulders and stares into my eyes.

I look at him like he is insane.

"You are way too close." I step back but he doesn't let me go. He turns me around and pulls me against him as we look at Mom.

Dad speaks in a very soft tone. It's been a very long time since I've heard him use this tone. "Tell me you are trying to hurt me. You can hurt my feelings all you want. Tell me it was a lie to hurt my feelings." He says to her and I am utterly confused.

Mom stands there silently.

"Jude!" He snaps at her and I flinch at the bass in his voice. "Jude tell me I didn't spend 16 years of my life raising a child that's not mine!"

Mom starts crying and now I want an explanation. "A child? What are you talking about?"

"You aren't his sis."

We all turn to my older brother, Bryson. We are 14 months apart but we are in the same grade because I was put in school early.

"You knew?" My Dad's hold tightens on me.

"What is everyone talking about?" I ask.
