Today was the rehearsal dinner, and everything was going smoothly. I could tell Carmen was nervous about something.

"Hey, Carmen. Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. Why? Are you not fine? Is something wrong? Is Freed okay?"

"Uh, yeah? You seem nervous."

"Oh...nope! Nothing's wrong!"

"Carmen, we'll be sisters-in-law tomorrow. You can tell me anything."

"Okay. Promise you won't tell Freed?"

"Depends what it is."

"Minerva!"

"Kidding, kidding. I won't tell him."

"Okay...I'm gay, and I have a girlfriend."

"Woah."

"I know..."

"And why are you afraid about that?"

"I'm scared Freed won't accept me."

"Why not?"

"He wanted me to have a knight in shining armor when we were kids. Now, I have an awesome girlfriend."

"Invite her to the rehearsal dinner. I'm sure Freed would love to meet her."

"But what if he-"

"Trust me, he'll be glad."

"Okay..."

It was time for the dinner, and everyone came. I saw Carmen come with Lydia. Freed and I came up to them to welcome the two.

"Hey, Carmen!" Freed called out.

"Hey...Freed!"

"Who'd you bring?" He faced Lydia.

"Freed, this is Lydia. Lydia, this is Freed- my brother."

"It's nice to meet you, and congrats on your engagement." Lydia shook our hands.

"Thank you. Nice to meet you as well!"

Freed was talking about a random topic where I looked at Carmen. I gestured for her to tell him.

"Hey, honey. I think Carmen has something to say."

"What is it?" He asked her.

"Freed, please don't hate me after this."

"Okay...?"

Carmen reached for Lydia's hand.

"I'm gay, and Lydia is my...girlfriend."

"What?"

"Lydia and I are dating."

"That's great! I'm so happy for you!"

"What?"

"What?"

"You're not mad or weirded out?"

"No? I'm bisexual, you know."

"You are?"

"You didn't know?!" Freed and I spoke at the same time.

"No...? I just assumed you were straight because of how heroic you are."

I burst out laughing.

"What's so funny?"

"You thought Freed was straight?!"
